Is it common for a company to give equipment to a team

Recommended Posts

I only ask because I was over at the caps practice yesterday, and a lot of them were using Warrior gear. 2 of the coaches (the goalie coach and Jay Leach) were wearing Warrior Gloves.

Glen Hanlon the head coach, was using the Warrior Kronik stick, as was Danius Zubrus (who normally uses Easton) and Shaone Morrissonn.

There were several others who had other Warrior sticks, and a couple with gloves too.

Is it common for a company, like warrior, to give gear to a team, would it be a sponsorship thing, or just a donation to see who will take it?

Just curious

Edit: Also, in practice, ovechkin wears a Reebok Helmet and Reebok pants.

He is however trying to get used to the Catapault stick, and used it for the entire practice, rather than the V10 that he has been using in games

Here are my photos

the WOOOOOO thing is because Olie Kolzig and Danius Zubrus had a trash talking thing going all practice, and every time Zubie scored he would holler WOOOOOO, so the one time he shot and fell down, Olie shouted over WOOOOOO.

Here are a couple of short crappy vids I shot too.

Well, Al Iafrate was in town and he is the Warrior Rep so I'm sure that's why everyone was trying everything else.

I'd think it would be pretty common to let players try that stuff as a way to lure them.

Yeah, I remember they talked a bit about Iafrate being the Warrior rep during the hardest shot at the ASG. I have to say, I have never had a harder shot than I do with the Warrior stick. Not too suprised that they hired Iafrate to be the warrior rep. Its still hard to imagine him using anything other than a piece of lumber though.

Not to try to get off topic....

but I skated on that ice at the new Caps practice facility (Kettler)...wow! Some of the best ice I have skated on in a while: hard and fast.

They did a great job in that place. The old practice facility in Ashburn is pretty nice too.

he probably likes the RBK stuff more but CCM requires him to wear theirs in games, they can't do shit about what he wears in practice though.

Why would you practice with equipment you're not going to wear in a game?

I was wondering the same thing, then I realized CCM blows, so that's probably why. <---opinion!

i dont know of any other times, but RBK/CCM sponsored the AHL Allsatr game tonight and every player (besides goalies) had reebok 8k helmets and either a 7k sickick or Vector 10.0 stick and 9k pumps or the new 10.0 vector skates

rbk is the biggest sponsor of the ahl, im pretty sure that ahl players can only get equipment for free from the ahl sponsors, not like the NHL where you can get whatever you want from whoever you want. Im not sure about the accuracy of this, i just remember my dad telling me this at a manchester monarchs game a few years ago when i noticed most of them had vectors.
