new gloves

Recommended Posts

Easton makes a Synergy 500 glove. I tried it on, it seemed pretty nice for $40-45(US). A couple guys I play with have them and seem to like them.

I opted for Synergy 900's as I got them for not much more, and 2 weeks ago picked up the 1300's for $45. But, if you can't find any deals on the upper echelon models, I think the 500's are an affordable, decent option.

I find if you buy at the high-end of the Canadian Tire "crap" it's actually half-decent intermediate rec league type stuff.

give us a price range, it would help limit what gloves are in the range... it also might help to know if you like a tight, loose or somewhere inbetween type of glove.

ok sorry i will clear it up a bit more then, i would like a more medium fit glove (not to tight, not very loose either) that takes verry little or no break in time

In that case, check out TPS gloves, the vector series, rbks(might be a bit too tight), eastons, mission gloves and maybe even Salmings.

There are some great deals on TPS closeouts online.

I love the Bionic series, I've said it probably 10 times on MSH; The Bionics were 3rd on my list of gloves, just behind the vector pros and one90s.

Not enough people look at TPS gloves, they get too caught up in names like CCM, RBK, Eagle and forget about TPS. I've honestly never been disappointed in anything with the TPS name on it, they make great products.

I'll have to check them out. I really like the wrist strap setup since I like a tight glove and need some extra length to cover the gap between the elbows and the gloves(I like the tightness of a 14" glove but I need around a 15.5" glove to just get the gap to be about half an inch, i use vector 6.0LE elbows btw). The wrist starp setup adds the protection I want without having slash guards, which I refuse to use, and doesn't limit mobility.

I haven't seen the R8s at my local hockey shop. Are they out now or is it coming out later this year?

The MIA might be out if you are on a budget. I will agree the TPS R8's are a great glove. I picked up a pair and love them. Reasonably priced for what you get quality wise as well. You may also want to look at the TPS HGTs- I'm sure they are on closeout at most places. Most gloves that are a season or two old you should be able to find priced to move at most shops, and you can pick up a higher end product for the same/less money than getting what's currently "hot".
