Gorilla Glue

How did it work for you? It says that the stuff expands and not to use a lot. What is your opinion on the stuff? Would you suggest it?

I tried it on an experiment when I was TRYING too "fix" a broken Vector 10.0 (Seen in the "Show It Off")

Dougie8....what page? That thread is wicked long...looking to see what happened to yours and how the glue worked.

It's on 156 (Edit)

I thought the glue would work alot better then it did, because after taking a few snap shots and slap shots the whole bottom half of the stick loosened up so it felt like a loose blade but the bottom of the shaft

The reason I'm asking is because I have recently run across an issue that I need an alternative solution for. The oultsole on my Graf G3 skates have beeen tearing away from the quarters and Graf wont warrenty this because I have Tuuk holders on my skates. So I'm thinking of using Gorilla Glue to hold them together. I need to add that the skates havent ripped away to bad but I want to be proactive and prevent this from happening before the Vapor XXXX are available.

Thanks! Found it on 155...man that really stinks. A friend I play open hockey with had the same thing happen to his V10 on his second skate....he was bummed. He sent it in to CCM, and 5 weeks later....he got a V130 extra stiff (50KP) Ovey. He was further bummed. He tried to sell it to me for $60...would have bought it if it wasn't so stiff. It was suprising to see an Ovey X-stiff...he uses a regular flex shaft, but then again, retail will make a curve in all flexes. He bought a V10 regular flex, so he was surprised to see a X-stiff in the box...U planning on sending it back?

I had some success using 2 part epoxy made for fiberglass applications. My Tour Beemer outsole was separating from the boot, and it's held up fairly well. It's been a good 5 or 6 months, but I don't play inline much any more (usually once a week)

Gorilla Glue is reallly strong and good for most applications. It does expanded and looks like harden foam after it dries, but if you reallly clamp it down well it shouldn't be too big of a deal. But I'd say, if you took a shot near the area you repaired, the glue might crack as it doesn't seem to be very flexible.

No, I bought it in the summer when I was down at the Canucks equipment sale at the "Hockey Shop" plus I broke it probably in November. I dont think I could send it back after doing that too it anymore.

I did the same thing to re-attach the composite outsole of my Vector Pros (separated at the mid-foot). Gorilla glue seemed to work better than any 2-part epoxy that I tried. I clamped after gluing to make sure that it held. The repair lasted about 3 months, and then I re-glued.

You could also try using shoe goo. It holds really well, but make sure that the two surfaces are really clean, or else the glue won't hold properly. On top of the really good hold, it is kinda flexible.

Make sure the skate is completely dry before attempting a repair. The gorilla glue is stronger than the Shoe Goo. You may also want to look at J B Weld. It's a 2 part epoxy you mix yourself. It's crazy strong.

KTANG; My next question is what did you use to clamp it down and for how long? Also how much did you use?

Thanks for ALL the possible solutions. After I do this I will post before and after pics and track the progress and results of this product for possible future users or non-users.

I used a normal 6" C-clamp. It was easy to get in place after I unlaced the skate and got the tongue out of the way, because my delamination was in the middle of the sole.

I used a coffee stirrer to ensure that the glue was spread properly and clamped it for a whole day (24 hours).
