Ballistik shaft?

Recommended Posts

I've searched and found a bit of info on the older lines of OPS and shafts from Ballistik, but there doesn't seem to be much word on the new Calibre line. I am looking at picking up another shaft, and although I am strongly leaning towards another AK27, the 45 Calibre has caught my attention. Unfortunately, none of the LHS's around here stock it. I tried the OPS 45 model at the store and was failry impressed with it, but that says nothing for durability or the on-ice performance of the shaft. I know their older lines were not well-received (I use their composite softball bats, and they are not known for durability with the exception of their new lines). Does anyone have any experience with the new stuff that would care to give me their insight?

Thanks.

there's a guy I chat with on Myspace who is a Ballistik dealer... he's tried a few times to get me to order. He speaks very highly of them, and even mentioned their OPS' carry a 45 day warranty (not 100% on shafts).... So I spotted a guy skating in the pickup hour before mine, using a Ballistik shaft. So I asked what he thought.. he said "I've used them all- Easton, Bauer, etc.. and I love this shaft." He had 2 of them on him.

Aside from the guy I spotted using one, I can't really get ahold of one either. But, 2 people speaking highly of it is a start, I suppose.

Play with the new Caliber 52 and I'm very impressed so far, performance wise it's right up there with the best of them, can't comment on durability yet.

I'm using a couple of older standard shafts- they were well used by the guy in Texas I got them from (via the Goalie store forum) but show no signs of it. They're not the lightest, but with a $20 wood blade they have decent balance.

There's no model name/number on them, I think they're Senior Lights though.

The guy I got them from was a Ballistik rep out of Plano, TX, cost me $15 a shaft

I have been using the 52 caliber for 4 months now and am on my second one now. M first one broke 2 months ago when I blocked a shot in the shaft. The stick still performed like it was new. The second one is holding up fine, I have only heard good things about Ballistik so far. I tried their sticks a few years ago but they were junk. They have come a long way since

Ballistik makes shafts that are like tanks, but that's the older model... not too sure about the newer lines though.

There's a local team that got jerseys from them in our league. At the start of the season everyone was using one of the newer sticks, by week five only the old tanks were still left. That was a couple seasons ago, the brand new stuff may be better.

I used to attend high school with their president. Consequently, some of our beer league team (comprised of high school friends)uses Ballistic equipment like gloves, bags, sticks, shafts, and shirts.

Most guys are happy with their stuff. I have the 05 Ultra Light OPS. The stick is good, light and durable enough, but I just can't get used to the curve and lie.

Interestingly, one of our guys broke his 52 Calibre blade two weeks ago while re-taping. He did'nt mention it but I assumed it was cracked beforehand.

The 52caliber I have is a Tapered shaft/blade combo.

The shaft has a really nice texture (non-grip) and shape + it's superlight, blade is quite good but wouldn't be surprised if the durability is mediocre based on what people have said about Ballistiks durability in the past.

Thinking about putting a Dolomite blade in it when the blade breaks (maybe it'll never break, lol), so far the shaft is my favourite tapershaft in terms of performance, based on playing with Synthesis, XV, Dolomite and now the 52caliber shaft.

Has anyone tried the custom composite blades from Ballistik? Website says minimum order of 12 and the specs on their blades look impressive. Any feedback would be awesome.

The new stuff has been holding up really well from what I've seen. And the customer service is great. Although I can't comment on the shafts. The OPS has shown nothing but good things from what Ive seen with seeing guys using them, as well as the fact I haven't heard a complaint yet and I have about every stick we have lol

prices look good for canadians, but i'd think their sales would not be good in the states just because people can get a well-known brand for less money.
