Knees?

Well I have some pretty messed up knees...just wondering about other out there that have some messed up ones and also the recovery time for.

On my left knee...about 1 1/2 months ago I bruised the knee cap..and I still can't bend it 90 degrees..in other words..I can't sit on them..or can't have them fully bent. After I ski/snowboard or play hockey..my knee is all swolen up..and I don't know why.

On my right knee..about 1 month ago..I went knee to knee with a kid..and my knee hyper extended and I also bruised my growth plates. I have had physical therapy and all that. But I can't full sit on my knees..the same with my other knee.

On both my knees..it feels like there very sore and I can't move them without feeling some pain. Almost like I need some WD40 on my joints. I can't bend my knees and jump without pain also..anyone have this other than me? or any help?

I also have bad knees but have never injured them or anything, just 2 summers ago I was playing soccer and my knees just started to hurt real bad and I couldn't play the rest of the game. I went to the doctor and found out I have Osgood Schlatter in my knees, it's very painful and you get big bumps about 2 inches below the kneecap, also it stunts your growth (damn I can't wait for it to go away) apparently it lasts about 2 years. Since you've had injuries to your knees I don't think this is what you have but just thought I'd post my experience.

a couple years back i partially tore my ACL in my right knee, the next summer tore it a little bit more playing basketball, and reinjured once more the next summer doing the same thing, i get pain in it once in a while after doing some activity, but its nothing unbearable...all in all though, knee injuries suck

I have the same thing. But only in my right knee. It doesn't hurt as bad as it did last year, but every once and awhile when I'm playing Ill feel a sharp pain and I have to sit for a couple minutes.

I don't think it has stunted my growth though, although my right leg is a tad shorter than my left.

About a month ago I was skating in on a 2-1, took a shot that ricocheted into the corner off the inside of the goalie's pad. As I turned to follow the puck, I didn't catch my edge, fell and slid, slamming my knee full force into the boards. I finished the game, but couldn't walk the next day.

I was back on skates about 2 weeks later, but I certainly wasn't fully healed. It's been a month and, although a lof the the strength and support has returned, I still don't have full mobility in the knee (tightness when fully bent, slight pain when fully straightened and I can't lock the knee fully), and it's sore the mornings after I play. I've taken to icing the knee after games, and am looking into getting a brace for it.

The ice has kept the swelling down, and despite a little bit of stiffness in the mornings, the knee doesn't really bother me unless I stand for long periods of time. If you aren't icing them regularly, I'd recommend this. Others on my team who have had knee injuries absolutely swear by a brace with hyperextension protection (usully have metal hinges on the sides, many of them are slim fitted neoprene wraps. I almost picked one up at the sports authority yesterday, but there was a huge line, and I'm an impatient fool. They seem to run about $35-70.

i have very bad knees. i tore my acl/pcl/meniscus in my right knee and had everything reconstructed in august. i also tore a lot of my acl in my left knee but never needed surgery and fractured my tibia and fibula in my left leg. I too have problems kneeling and have limited range of motion. Try talking to your doctor about it and try to get physical therapy. I went to therapy for about 3 months and it worked wonders for me. Also stretching daily is a must for me.

I have the same exact thing as you in my knee...I feel pain when I do squats too..which will be a bitch' come summer hockey camp time..I do ice it after every ice session..keeps the swelling to a minimum. I have a neoprene brace thing..but I took it off because it wasn't doing much, and I don't really need it now. Once my hockey slows down (from about 7-8 times a week on the ice) down to maybe 1-2...which will be after tryouts in late April..I will rest. I don't think I will be doing a summer league this year and will noy do a few spring hockey games...I hope the break will fully heal it.

I already went to an orthapedic..and already had some phy. therapy. I had an immobilizer on it for two weeks right after it happened..and than a week after than without ice..than I was back on. How do you stretch..like motions and such?

My knee cracks when I bend it to about a 50-60 degree angle. I used to show off/freak people out with this, but now it's just a nuisance. Whenever I do squats, it cracks every single time. Supposedly this will cause arthritis when I get old, but either way, I'd like to know if this is bad for me or if there is a way to prevent this (different excercise?).

3 right knee dislocations and 1 left knee dislocation in the past two years.

I have done the same knee twice. The last one was over 2 years ago. I notice it gets very sore after coaching or standing in the cold for any extended period. (Not so much after playing, but i still notice it.) Does that happen to you, too?

Osgood Schlatter, yup had it in my right knee back in middle school. Ten years later I still occasionally feel the pain.

I have REALLY bad knees, I've partially to fully dislocated my right knee 20+ times and my left knee 10+ times, I'm not exaggerating. It's gotten to the point where I can partially dislocate my knee, it pops back in and I sit for a few mins... walk around then go finish what I was doing. The next day is hell though. It's actually quite sad that i've gotten used to the pain to where I can grin and bare it, I'm only 22 and the dislocations started when I was about 14. The first one was the only one I was stuck in crutches but that one landed my kneecap literally about 1/3 way around the outside of my leg.

I found out what it was...it's something with my kneecap...it pops out of place and then goes back in and that's that pop. I had very weak quad and hip muscles so therapy 3 times a week is working! The therapist said that it's been a probably been a problem for a while but I just hit the peak of it. I have to re-learn how to walka nd such because my knees go inward and then back out..
