nicksmission14 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2007 I got pretty used to skating on E-Pros and since I have gone back to my One90's with the LS2 Powers I noticed that I'm getting fatigued much faster. Could it be because the runner is longer? Didn't change hollow either, Still a 1/2" like always.
cougarscaptain87 13 Report post Posted March 6, 2007 1/2" is the hollow just so you know. did you have either of the blades profiled? ex. 9' 11' 13' a profile would increase or decrease the amount of steel on the ice which would in theroy drag, which could increase fatigue... im sure JR or someone could elaborate
nicksmission14 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2007 My bad meant to put hollow, And I have never had a blade profiled in my Life. I skated on Tuuk Custom+'s for years.
top 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2007 Well if you never got them profiled to something like the CCM/RBK maybe you its time to do so. If im not wrong the CCM Epros have a 10 profile so go to your best skate sharpener or LHS and they will do it for you. After your one90's will skate or feel like the Epors on the ice as far as glide and the emount of steel on the ice. And make sure that your sharpener doesnt do ur profile by hand eye cordination, one of the guys in my town does it and my lord is it ever off balance make sure he knows what hes doing. Cavs019 710 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 JR can clarify this, but I believe the hollow will play differently depending on the radius of the steel. Whether or not this is correct, gradually move shallower from 1/2. I'd try 9/16 to start and go from there.

Didn't change hollow either, Still a 1/2" like always. You have a shorter radius on the Bauers, what you experience is typical for someone switching from CCMs to Bauers. Easily fixed, you can try a couple of things, move to a shallower hollow and see how much that helps, and/or just get a longer radius.
Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 Do you think the fatigue is something you'll get used to if you don't change anything? Is it that much more tiring? I rock EPros now and am contemplating a switch.
nicksmission14 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 I'm liking the LS2 Powers as I skate on them more, Now if I could only straighten out this boot issue.Back on topic. I think it's something I'll get used to... I think the E-Pro actually felt slightly better believe it or not, And coming from me that's huge because I have never been a fan of the other CCM Holders. But I guess I have not skated on the LS2 Powers to make an accurate comparison to the E-Pro. Always takes time to adjust.
toroytorero 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2007 I just had my first skate on L2's yesterday after replacing my mission skates and had the same experience. Towards the end of the session I hardly thought about it though. I had them sharpened to 1/2 and it felt a bit sharper then that.. and also this may just be my imagination but the steel felt "grainy" against the ice. Like you though I think I'm going to give it a few more skates and adjust
VECHKIN08 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2007 I'm just curious, but I have been using EPro and Prolite 3 chassis for quite some time now, and I'm contemplating a switch to LS2's. In anyone's opinion would it be a good switch to make? I think for me to skate faster I need to be on my toes more. I'm a good skater but I feel like I can make improvements. Lately I've really been looking into tweaking my gear to get the most out of it. I'm wondering if changing to LS will help me out. I heard the Cobra holders are very pitched and I'm reluctant to try them. What would you guys recommend. It is a broad question but I'm open to any suggestions. Currently I'm using CCM 10.0 with the EPro chassis. Thanks guys...
nicksmission14 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2007 Well, I would stay with the E-Pro. The LS2 and E-Pro are both Neutral Pitch. If you feel like you need more forward pitch I'd go with a heel lift. That will get you more on your toes.
DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 Unless your steel is really worn down, you can also have them profiled with a forward pitch. If you install Lightspeeds, they'll have more or less the same pitch as your E Pros, but a longer runner length (generally allows for more glide), and would need to be profiled as well (or a heel lift added) for a forward pitch. The Cobra Holder or a Pitch Holder would be your options if you wanted to swap holders for a forward pitch without profiling. imo, you should save the money from the holders and just have them profiled. If you don't like it, you can have them reprofiled to neutral.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 could it possibly be the one90 boot? Maybe the flex of the boot is forcing you to work harder while skating... but that's just a guess.
nicksmission14 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 Maybe... I just feel like I'm working some much harder in the One90 then I was in the 9K Pump. It feels like I am always on my heels, I feel sluggish on acceleration for whatever reason.
JR Boucicaut 3810 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 Heel lift...think about it, what's going to make you feel more tired, going uphill or going downhill? That is essentially what is happening.
Hockeydog 8 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 could it possibly be the one90 boot? Maybe the flex of the boot is forcing you to work harder while skating... but that's just a guess. I went from a RBK 5K to a One90 and didn't notice that I had to work harder My Obe90's have a stiffness rating #3. I do have a forward profile on the blades. It feels like I am always on my heels, I feel sluggish on acceleration for whatever reason.I have a pair of Bauer Supreme 6500's ( one of my ill fated internet buys )with Tuuk Custom + holders that I tried to make work. They had the typical Bauer/Tuuk heel pitch and I felt just as you described, and just as JR's analogy. Running uphill. Also remember that the RBK's have a flatter arch IIRC, and the One90's a bit more arch support, which could be amplifying the situation, depending on your foot type.
