Heatley's stick expenses

Recommended Posts

That math is WAY off.. No WAY are they paying $300 per stick. My guess is more like 100-130, 150 MAX for it being custom. Yes it says Retail value, but I haven't seen anywhere selling Stealths for more than 150-175. Hell the Dunhams Sports down the road has them for 99.00 (LH Sakic only).

Unless they're using CAD $ figures. But still seems a bit high. Anyway, that's still a butt load of dough. That's still more than I Make in a year lol

but if you do the math the sticks would retail for 295.31 there is no way they pay that much per stick

Its canadian figures and stealths go for around 249.99-349.99 in Ottawa. And no, Heatley doesnt break sticks that often.

He gets them custom-coloured too in that new-fandangled black paint that doesn't add any weight though.

There was a thing last year, about the Thrashers stick expenses. Joe B and Locker talked about it during a caps/thrash game.

They said that the Thrashers for one year, spent $230,000 on sticks, and that they were not happy in particular with Kovalchuk, because he was going through 2 and 3 in practice, then 3 or 4 more almost every game.

When he was asked about it, he said it's so different from playing in Russia, where at the start of his season, he was given 2 sticks. If he broke them he had to buy his own after that, or his family would have to supply them.

He said he used wood in russia when he was younger

Well he is doing something right.. must be his excessive use of sticks.. B)

Maybe he uses them once, signs them, and sells them for 500. Then hes making profit haha.

From Martin Brodeur's book, "Beyond The Crease", where he's talking about his pregame routine.

I play with a new stick every game, so the first thing I do at the rink is get my sticks ready. I'll use one for warmup, one to play and have three new ones on the bench. Some of the sticks I may use later for practice. I mark the ones I use in games on the knob with the date and the opponent, so if I give them away to friends, family, or charity, that information is there on the stick. I give away more than a hundred sticks every season. My teammates always want them, but I often laugh when I see them everywhere for sale. In my first year, I used sherwood sticks, but since then I have used CCM or Heaton. I haven't changed my stick pattern in a decade.

Well, only the first part is really relevant, but still...

That price is accurate for a CDN Stealth, and I even saw one of his prostocks the other day for roughly that price.

On a side note I'd think Stoll's is up there too, I think he said he only uses his Stealths for a few shots before they lose flex.

It's like 3 heavy slappers then Stoll changes his stick.

Can't fanthom beeing that strong or picky.

I think Stoll might have reason to switch that often. Seems like every time I watch him he leans in to take the faceoff and then proceeds to snap his stick.
