Mission warranty

Recommended Posts

Uh, no. I was wondering because I wanted to know if I had the option to return the replacement if it's exactly what I originally ordered without any special markings or anything. Having a shaft crack after only taking a few dozen shots makes me not want to have another one.

certain LHS are able to return the stick you broke for a different one which is in stock. It makes sense to me because you shouldn't be forced to wait for a stick that you have purchased, but broke due to manufacturers defect. Others will be turned off from a "quick break" and not want to use the product. I understand certain people (alot) abuse the warranty department.

Honestly, a stick should break the first day or it should live beyond the warranty period. Most warranties cover manufacturer defect, not excessive abuse. Having it break after the first couple of shots is why the warranties were created, not beating the hell out of them for 28 days and having it snap after being slashed for the 400th time.

I'm not trying to rip anyone off. I'll sell it on eBay or something if I decide to get rid of it if it's such a big deal. I'm just leery about getting another one because I don't want to get another one and have it break and be out $100 after really not even getting to use it. This is the first shaft I've ever had break and I'm normally pretty rough on my gear, but this thing was barely touched.

The product was defective, that's why they replace them. You shouldn't have a problem with the replacement.

it just dosent seem right tho.... u bought it and have already used one who knows....it just couldve been a bad batch

exactly, but some may view it as more. He doesn't want to take the risk of getting another stick which is defective. I believe Mission makes quality products, but a bad experience may turn him off. He just wants to avoid or contemplate avoiding a situation which could leave him with a broken stick he used twice that cost him the same amount he could've bought another OPS for. Most are willing to take the risk, others aren't.

The Mission was the last one I expected to break. I've always heard about how durable they were, so I was expecting it to last a long time.

You must be living right if this is the first shaft you've ever broken on the first day...

Seriously, your shop should just give you a new shaft and send the replacement. If your second one snaps they should give you a credit to something else if you want...

having said that, Missions customer service/warranty is second to NONE

Send back the stick and we will definitely replace it. Also, if something should happen to the stick again, we will replace it again. Sometimes a stick will break right away...Unfortunately it happens....Making sticks that don't break is not impossible, but nobody would want to play them (i.e. Dangler stick)....

Sorry you experienced a problem.

Due to the amount of fraud that was going on with replacements, that is why the companies instituted the warranty policy of sending in the broken sticks. People were buying the sticks/shafts, deciding they didn't like the curve/flex/whatever, breaking them on purpose and then getting a different model from the shops.

Perhaps I have found a happy medium in this idea. If a stick/shaft breaks within the warranty period then the customer sends it into the company's warranty department. If the warranty department decides that the stick was defective then they send a voucher equal to the purchase price of the original stick to the customer. The customer can then use that voucher at a shop for whatever they want and that shop sends the voucher to the company for reimbursement.

Obviously, the companies would have to create a voucher that couldn't be faked or forged in some way in order to protect themselves. The benefit to the company would be that instead of paying the shipping cost of a stick/shaft, which for Mission is expensive since they usually ship replacements 2-day air, they would only have to pay the price of a stamp to send the customer a voucher.

Just a thought...............oh, and I've had nothing but good things to say about Mission's customer service.

Exactly what happened to me. My first M-1 had the fuse point problem which surfaced in my first game with it. I received a replacement that I then had for about two months when it snapped just above the hosel while receiving a pass. Even though I had forgotten the blade portion at the rink and only had the shaft portion, I called Mission, explained the situation, they had me send in the shaft portion and I received another replacement.

On a sad note, the second replacement broke last week after having it for over a year.

Too much paperwork. Nobody likes to give refunds.

The store would have to wait for the mfgr to process the actual credit back to the store, and that takes time. All the while, the customer is without a stick.

It really wouldn't be any more work that the warranty processes are currently. I think you misread what I was saying. The customer would receive the voucher from the company. The customer uses the voucher as cash at the shop. Shops have to send payments to companies for stock, anyway, and part of that payment could be offset by whatever vouchers have been redeemed by customers at their shops. The only true additional work would be to add a line on the remittance stub for vouchers redeemed.

Basically, here's your remittance stub.

Invoiced amount: $1,000

Payment enclosed: 850

Vouchers redeemed 150

(enclose all vouchers)

Total payment: 1,000

They replaced it even after two months?

Yeah, however, it was during a time where they were working on correcting some issues with the sticks so I'm not sure if they would still do it. But, like I always say, it never hurts to call and ask.

There are also some states where warranties do not expire due to certain commercial laws in those states protecting consumers.
