CHEAP EASTON SL'S

Helluva deal they got going on over at the Monkey. Take that stick and the $90 shipping to get it to me and they're balls deep in my wallet.

Maybe someone in a shop or post office worker here can explain this to me: I got in contact with Hockey Monkey about their shipping costs and they said they could do USPS so long as you specify that on the phone. They spitball delivery of what I wanted (OPS, couple shafts) and they got $120+ from the USPS and showed me the link, though I couldn't backtrack it to see what they punched in other than the ZIPs. How is this number ginormous when Hockeylax gave me a flat USPS rate up here at about $10? Insane.

I guess hockeylax has an account which would actually cost less than a non-account would through usps, it would definitely cost me more than $10 to ship a stick to alaska... but certainly not more than $20, heck it was only $25 to ship 3 shafts to the UK via usps.

I didn't think of that but surely it can't be $120 for 1 stick and 2 shafts. What kills me is that same order would be $5 ground. I thought I remembered someone posting a link to a 3rd party that could receive sticks and re-send them to you, but damned if I remember the thread it was in.

I would do it for you but being in florida it would be backtracking a little bit ;)

No doubt that $120 is a slight overcharge  but probably by only like a hundred dollars.

I laugh when i see some websites shipping charges. From my ebay experience and daily trips to the USPS ive been able to acquire how much it costs to ship certain things before even going to the post office.

Based on one stick and using Priority mail or Airmail to Canada, Europe, etc

US- $6

Canada $15

Europe $20-25

Granted some companies might add a few bucks for packaging but in no way should shipping ever been that insane!! We use a standard black poly bag and wrap the blade in cardboard to protect it during shipping. The USPS has never charged us extra to ship the sticks this way. If companies use the large cardboard boxes to ship their usually charged a oversize package fee which is only a few bucks more.

Really? I'm going to have to try that next time. When I eBayed a few sticks last year, I wrapped 2 of them in a clear plastic bag a stick actually came in, put a ton of shipping tape, and used 2 bubble wrap envelopes to protect the blades. The USPS clerk told me they had to be "in a box". So I just used some cardboard to 'frankenstein' a box.

Even then, the 2 sticks cost me $26 to Canada... Hockeymonkey later charged me double for a shaft.

It all depends on who's working around here. I've sent shafts to canada that cost me $6 to ship and sent shafts to canada that cost me $15. Similar weight and both in eastern canada... annoying when you are trying to quote shipping.

I totally agree... that's kinda why I try and sell my sticks to guys I play with, it's just so much easier.. it's nothing against guys on the board, it's just tough to put your finger on a price.

And to keep up with the topic.. I've seen/bought pro stock Easton SL's for $80 a piece.

I checked out to see how much it would actually cost...

$129.98 Easton SL Grip

+ $4.99 "oversized" shipping charge

+ $16.98 shipping

+ $10.46 CA tax

So in actuality I would be paying $162.41 for a stick I could get at my LHS for $40 less.

Wow, where are you living? Here in Montreal, the SL is still %259,99.
