it pains me to say this being a NYR fan and all..

but in his rookie year Denis Potvin Sucks played the entire season with a broken foot..they ordered another pair of skates a half size larger and before each game fitted him with a quick dry cast along the bottom of the foot...

Best playing injured story of all time imo is Bobby Baun in the 64 finals. If you don't know the story, Maple Leafs down 3 game to 2 in the finals to the Red Wings, breaks his ankle on a Gordie Howe shot, comes back and scored the game winner in OT, plays the next game as well, and the Leafs go on to win game 7 and the cup.

If you mean about Baun, that's how i originally heard the story as well, but it varies between leg, ankle and foot... Probably he's the only one who knows for sure...

Also, The Hockey News had a blurb where an un-named writer complained that until he scores more goals he shouldn't be compared to Gretzky. I don't need him compared to Gretzky(we have already heard that argument a million times) but to complain that he doesn't score enough and now know he played on a broken foot, well, that was a pretty stupid thing to write. Oh, BTW, he is still only 19 years old!!!

Does it matter? I doubt he did either of those because you need to have feeling in your foot to skate so..

Point is he played injured and contributed at the same rate..
