nyhockey6 1 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 Jets just traded up to 14thIs this really a good year for QB's though? There has been one taken, and teams have a lot more issues to fix than the QB positionNot really, personally I think Russell sucks. He's a QB in the body of a DE, weighs about 260-270. Quinn also has some question marks but I think he'll be a better pro than Russell. Outside of those 2, their are a couple of second tier guys but nothing too flashy like the last couple drafts had
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 You and about the whole city of Detroit. I was just on the phone with my buddy who is a Lions fan and he is livid. Tampa wanted Johnson bad but I guess they couldn't get a deal worked out.Tampa needs Johnson, but Detroit had a bigger need for a reciever in the first round to keep their streak going.I think Detroit wanted both of Tampa's 2nd round picks to move down 2 spots.I believe that's what they've been talking about, but with Tampa's needs the team really couldn't give up two extra picks in the swap. A few years ago it would have been a deal they would have made but that was before king Gruden ran all the talent out of town.
Slapshot9123 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 This whole Quinn thing is crazy, I have no idea why they would take Ginn over him. Hell if he does go down that far to 31st It would be a godsend I cant take another year of this Grossman BS.
flyguy1697 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 Man, there are going to be some good corners available. Hall, Revis, Houston, and Ross.Carolina won't take one. Pittsburgh will take Carriker if he's available.I just hope that means Reggie Nelson slips to the Eagles. I want Nelson, Timmons, or Anthony Spencer in the 1st. Otherwise, I hope they trade down. I've been hearing corner, but that's one of the deeper positions in the draft and they can get one later. Also, any corner would be a nickel back, unless they move Sheldon Brown to safety.Well my four hopeful's for the eagles just got snatched up right in a row, Revis, Timmons, Harrell and Moss. Awesome and as i type Leon Hall is out...there goes all my picks that I wanted the eagles to snatch up.

I knew Revis wasn't going to make it that far. Also, I wouldn't mind Merriweather at #26 either.

Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I like the Pats picking up Randy Moss for a fourth-rounder. Since they had nine picks to start the second day, giving up a fourth is nothing -- IF they can cut him prior to the season without salary cap ramifications if he causes trouble. mack 44 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 If I'm Brett Favre I retire right before training camp. He keeps coming back in the hopes the front office in GB does something and they screw the pooch on getting Moss. For the Pats' sake, hopefully Moss will be okay not getting every ball thrown to him (even if he's their one legitimate threat) as long as he's on a winning team. CCC8190 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 Chris Leak- undrafted. im very surprised. I think Troy Smith is in a good position with the ravens though. in a perfect world, he'll sit and watch McNair for a couple of years and step in nicely.
willy0314 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 No, Leak was an average College qb, who has no chance of making it in the NFL. Look at troy smith, he did pretty good at ohio because he was so fast scrambling around...he wont do squat in the nfl though.

nyhockey6 1 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 The only good point about Leak not being drafted is that he can find a situation that fits him, where he can spend a couple years (2-3) on the bench learning and then develop into a respectable backup QB. Cause honestly at the Pro level he is nothing more than that.
mack 44 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Leak may be a comparable type of player to Smith but Smith played in a more pro-style offence than Leak. Alex Smith had some physical tools to compensate for that knock against him.
Wayne 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Leak signed with the Bears, rumor has it they're going to allow him to compete for a backup QB position while also possibly trying him out at WR ala Randel El, Seneca Wallace etc...

The way Brady mixes it up game to game you know that Moss is going to have some 1 or zero catch games - how does he handle that? In the past that's when he started to just sleepwalk through the games so why is he going to swallow his ego for the Pats? He's saying the right things - that a championship will determine his legacy more than individual awards - but I'm from Missouri when it comes to him backing that up. mack 44 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Well he's at the point in his career that winning is becoming a smaller window than it used to be. I would think he'll be fine with the limited amount of balls he'd seen so long as they win, which I don't see being a problem. It's a gamble worth taking though because the Pats have always had pathetic WR corps and now they're stacked this year.
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 I'm becoming excited about this trade. Moss was willing to renegotiate from $9.75M to $3M plus incentives. I realize it's only April and he'll have plenty of time to turn into Bad Randy, but giving up 2/3 salary is a strong sign of motivation. One thing that scares me, however, is how intrusive the Boston media is. They are probably the best at stirring the pot, and they will gleefully try to do so after the first game in which Randy had only two balls thrown his way. How will he respond to the constant inquiries?
