TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Was at my lhs today, and saw the XXXX's in person. I'm thinking about getting a pair. However, to me they seem wider in the heel and mid-foot area. The hockey manager said the same thing. Isn't the width supposed to be the same as the XXX's? JR, what have you noticed about the fit/sizing of the XXXX boot? They don't have my size right now, so I couldn't try them on.The heel is the same width, maybe slightly larger but with all that ankle padding it fills the gaps well... The mid-foot might be a hair wider but the toebox is much wider. The length appears to be about the same.
LkptTiger 1 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 While I never knocked the Vapor XXXX's when we first saw a peek... I have to admit, the more I see them, the more I love them.I'm thinking the same thing. Still, I'm thinking One90s (whether or not they will have to be ordered custom is yet to be seen) are in my not-too-distant-future.

DarkStar50 679 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 We received a good size run in XXXX, mostly Jr sizes in XXV. The XXXXs look good, although they do feel a bit heavy. However, that is because they are being compared to ONE90s or S15 which are totally different. There is also so much more ankle padding in the XXXX as compared to those two skates. TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 Has anyone else noticed that the XXV hasn't been shipped in many sizes. Guess they are making a push for the XXXX and "delaying" the XXVs for a bit later.
MLSman 22 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 Skated this morning in the XXXXs....wow.I noticed a lot more explosiveness in my stride. I have to work half as hard as I did in the Vector 10 SE to get to full speed. Speedwise...it's not that any skate per se can make you faster, but it sure can make the effort of skating easier. I was able to stay on the ice a good 15-30 seconds more per shift because of not having to work as hard. I really liked that.Agility comes with ease with the skate. Again, no overwhelming increase in performance, but certainly a lot less work to turn on a dime, move laterally, and stop. I got home, skated hard for an hour and a half, and don't feel sore in the legs and feet. That is a major improvement in my book.As far as the feel while playing...it is awesome to have a skate that is both very stiff, comfortable, and relatively light. The boot certainly is a little roomier up front than the XXX. I usually like the width of the toebox wider, and I like my toes touching the cap vs brushing. I feel a lot more agile with a skate that fits this way. The surprising part for me was the comfort of the skate without having to bake them. From the box, to the rink, and on the ice...with no discomfort.I really am shocked by this. I was so disappointed for years with the lack of comfort in the XX, the XXX, and the One90. This skate just fits different, and I couldn't be happier. Hell, I skated so well today I was invited to a tourney in Toronto by people I have never met that are very good. Made my weekend! Mario123 2 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 Hey guy's. I wore a 7D in XXX's, but tried on 6.5D XXXX's. They actually fit! With one small problem. My left foot is ever so slightly pushing against the end of the toe. Will I gain a bit more room at the end of the skates by baking? I there any way I can push back my left ankle just a teeny bit? I don't want to have to go with the 7's just because of a tiny bit of space. They don't even have 7's in stock. What to do.
joeskow 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 go with customs. it's about $60 extra but worth it. you'll get the right size (for both feet) and a better overall boot.go with 6.5 right and 6.75 left.
bainsstatic 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 I can't afford the XXXX or the XXV but I did place an order for the XXII's, which are hopefully good. Apparently they haven't shipped yet either.
