kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 Is it ok to use hand soap to clean your car? I dont have anymore car soap, and my ride looks pretty nasty as pollen season just ended.
wickedlite44 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 it generally isnt suggested since it is harsh on the paint. howvere i am guilty, ive done it once before.
Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 Strips off all of the wax. If you do use dishsoap, you'll need to rewax afterwards.
Datsyukiandeek 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Go pay $5 at one of those Do It Yourself places. Just don't use the sprayer on its "Strip paint" setting.
pisani34 10 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 i honestly wouldn't use dish or hand soap, as someone stated already, it strips the clear coat and your in for a nice long day of detailing down the road. If the car is worthy, just get to your wal-mart or w/e is around and grab some car soap
davis 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 pisani's right. In the time it took for you to sit down at your computer, log on, and make this topic, you probably could've been to Wal-Mart and got yer car soap already. I had a friend try hand soap as well...didn't end too well.
fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 just use those formulated for cars... at least they are less harsh on your car wax...
trox_355 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 http://www.hstuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=682This is significantly more work than what it sounds like you want to do, but it's kind of in the same vein. I've used these instructions for my car over the past six years and continue to be impressed with the results. Following everything here usually takes me anywhere from 4-6 hours. tokes 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 I just clayed/polished/waxed my Skyline and it looks like a whole different car. Totally worth it to spend a sunday afternoon detailing!
GoHawks 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 I agree on the clay part. I clayed my car before i left home, and it was incredible how much better the paint looked after you polish and wax it. Mine wasn't very hard to do, since Probes have smooth lines and no side railings or whatever, and it looks so nice when it's done.
