XXXX vs the One90 skate

Recommended Posts

If I had to guess, he has most likely seen the TotalHockey skates with the colored holders and is wondering if they will fade.

Any other meaning, and I will never make an attempt to translate Norwenglish again.

maybe i'm old school but i just prefer the classic looks of a black and white skate, such as bauer supremes or generic ccm tacks.

Many go with what works best for them. Some are reluctant to change. I’ve skated both and feel that I’m more agile with the LS2, but faster on the LS2P. The reality is that I’m probably the same on both.

is it really faster on the LS2P? does one90 jr skate more stiffer than xxx skate. i wear xxx size 4.5D, i still consider whether to buy one90 or xxxx skates.

is that true xxx skates is heavier than xxx skate?

will one90 skate giving u a ouch pain?

I went to my lhs today to try the xxxx skate. Didn't like it but he said that the one90s have had issues that the boot is collapsing. Is this true?

iceangel, you would have to try them both on to see which of them fits your feet the best. That's the only way for you to know if you will feel any pain or if they are to stiff for you etc etc......

By all means, the XXXX is the greatest skate on the planet. Look, it has four X's; not three; not two, but four!! It will make you skate faster, look cooler, and be the bomb with all the chicks. The One-90 is so yesterday. After all it came out last year. How could you face your teammates, if you show up with last year's skates. Get out there and buy only the newest. How else can you be considered a great hockey player.

Stop it - he lives in Singapore, English is not his first language.

Wow...that's impressive that MSH has that kind of reach.

JR...could part of the bottom left info include location for all posts? Might make it easier for people to understand that they are not from the US and don't suffer from chronic typos. Just a suggestion to try and help with the language tolerance (we all need to be a little more tolerant to this as a whole on this site).

This thread has deteriorated. I thought it started out well, but with posts like mdamson, some non-relevant responses in general are antagonistic, and certainly would make a new member not want to stay.

As far as the question about weight, the XXX is a tad lighter than the XXXX, but it is near impossible to feel the difference on your feet. In addition, lightweight does not mean that the skate is a better skate. There are trade-offs with everything, and lately durability (how long it lasts) has gone down with weight. From my experience with the XXXX, the skate seems much more comfortable and durable than the XXX.

On the question of the holder, NO holder will make you faster per se. If you want to get faster, doing one leg squats, squats with weights, and other lower body/leg workouts will do a lot more to make you faster than going to a different holder. Both the LS2 and the LS2P are great holders...period. The only difference from my experience is the longer steel on the LS2P, but I didn't sense any noticeable difference that would make me switch what was on the skate.

JR can help more to make sure what I am saying is accurate, but I believe that the One90 Jr skate is the same stiffness and material as the adult skate. I am not sure if that is true on the Vapor line, as I know in the past the Jr would be less stiff and different material.

With respect to the question on the pain of the One90...some people I know swear by them, and so far have proven to be a very durable skate. Of course, here and there you hear of someone having a problem, but for the most part it seems that Nike/Bauer has been working on increasing the quality of their skates. From my experience with the One90, I just could never get comfortable in the boot...because my ankle bone comes out pretty far. The One90 would make the bone real sore on both feet. It really is a great skate, and I would recommend you try it with the XXXX, and ANY other skate you can get your hands on. Find what fits you best...not what us knuckleheads on this site tell you to do! :)

Sorry that people have been arrogant...myself included with the Norwenglish comment.

Correct. My suggestion is to make it a mandatory field.

Where in my post did I assault this guy's nationality? I think it's great that MSH draws such a diverse crowd. I would be the last guy to rag on someone for their nationality, as my relatives are German and I appreciate someone that makes an effort to communicate with people of other nations.

My post was being sarcastic to make a point. The point being that there are way too many hockey players out there that worry about how many X's are on their skates and how expensive they are, and how good they look in their equipment. What ever happened to ignoring the marketing hype and playing the game. It's kind of like the guy in Spinal Tap whose amplifier goes up to 11. Somehow 11 is better than 10, even though the numbers are essentially meaningless. Kind of like the marketing cycle year after year, that the latest and greatest with a higher number is a million times better than what they had as last year's latest and greatest.

I was referring to mdamson, i'm all for the globalization of MSH. :)
