I just put in an online order for a jock shorts and a girdle. I've never owned either jock shorts or a girdle before, but if I have a girdle, which should have a built-in cup pouch, will I have no need for the shorts?

wearing your cup in your jock short might prove to be more benneficial because it would be sitting closer to the boys and have less kinds of leeway to be moving as the thing it was in would be attached tighter to your body.

They usually have straps that go around your legs to keep the cup firmly attached to your junk. It would be useless to even have a cup option otherwise.

i wouldn't say the straps are necessary at all. i actually rip mine off when i get any jock. i find my pants hold it down suffeciently. been doin this for probably six years now and don't remember ever getting a shot there that actually affected me

I've had that combo for years, and I think it works great. I'd definitely wear the the cup in the jock shorts rather than the girdle though.

My shockdoctors have this issue, my solution = a pair of nike dri-fit compression shorts underneither the shockdoctor compression short jock. MUCH, much better than just the shockdoctors by themselves.

I think the best way to protect from pulls and strains.............is stretching, The shorts are more for comfort than anything I find.

compression wear is intended to maintain muscle temperature and absorb vibrations (amongst some other things). I'm no doctor, so I can't say for sure, but I have less aches the next day when I wear shorts.

I got the black CCM Tacks girdle (not the blue wrap one that has velcro all over).

I opted against compression shorts and went with the loose shosrts since I'm usually wearing boxers and the whole idea of boxers under compression sounds even more incompatible than jock shorts with girdle.
