Hi,

is anyone in the nhl using the rbk8k-skates???

at the begining of the year, guys like Hamel was using em, they have most converted to 9k

8k's were short lived. As mentioned the 9k's have taken over. So far the pump is standing the test of time. That's good because I originally was shopping for 8ks only to learn they were discontinued so I bought the 9ks. That was a year ago and they're still going strong. (I play 3x per week).

Was there anything in particular folks did not like about the 8K? I picked up a pair on the cheap and haven't really had a chance to use them much.

High end skates, very stiff, pretty light, E pro holders, lacelock, if they fit your foot and you'll get them for cheap I wouldn't hesitate. I'm not a fan of the looks, but what the heck it's not a fashion show right?

I'm pretty sure anyone in the NHL that was using the 8k's either got the 9k Pumps of got 9k's with a non-functioning pump (i think croby has fake pumps) so they would promote rbk's top product while still using the 8K.

Last I saw, he was wearing 9K's.... whether they were legit, functioning Pumps is another question all in it's own.

I owned the 8K's.... I favor a nice, stiff boot. But I had problems getting them nice & tight around my ankle, so I went with the 9K's (I had previously owned 5K Pumps, so I figured the Pump would resolve my ankle fit). Aside from the Pump itself, I didn't notice much of a difference between the 2. The 8K has a nice, thick ankle pack for support, and if I wasn't such a bender I would still own them. I picked them up for less than $300, which is well worth it in my opinion.

Not that it matters, but yeah they aren't the best looking skate as someone else mentioned... but you'd be surprised how much of a difference a pair of black laces makes.

7D i think, I worry so much about the blades not being mounted properly, symetrical...

I own a pair. Extremely comfortable and well made skate. If you like a stiff skate you'll love these. Top end skate, great ankle support,carbon footbed,and they have a great holder and blade.(E-Blade is excellent) Not a lot of guys liked the grey-black look of the boot. If you overlook the appearance you have one terrific skate for less than $300 CDN.

JR, do you have an 8.5D by chance?

(Actually, does anyone know of any place that has an 8.5D in these? If there is a shop around you that you could pick them up, I'd be willing to send you the money + a little extra for the doing. If you can help, that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.)

I have laced up my 8k´s now for about 10 times and i like them pretty much.

Now i have an really good offer for the 9k´s.

What do you think? Should i switch to the 9k´s or is it not worth because of the small differences of these 2 skates.(generaly differences)

When the 8k is still working without damage and the fit is fine - there is no need to get the 9k.

I got a quick question so ill post it here instead of creating a new one:

What are the differences between the 8k and the 9k skate (except the pump..)? Ive never tried the 8k skate, but i think that the 9k is REALLY comfortable and the fit is what i need, but the pump really bummed me out (it broke after the 2nd skate and now my trust is gone) so when the 8k is basically the 9k without a pump, it would be a skate i would concider as my next.

Also, how do the sizes differ? Unfortunately, i cant try the 8ks on since all the hockeystores around here dumped them and got the 9ks instead. Im fine in 9E 9ks, would that be a 9E 8k skate as well?

Nah, just kidding, but are they as comfy as the 9ks? I really loved the inside (liner, tongue, toecap) of the 9ks and i would like to know if the inside of the 8k is similar.

I personally found the 8K to be a little more comfortable, due to the little extra width. Other than the Pump and the smidge extra room width-wise, they're virtually the same skate.
