If you're going to be in a hockey market such as Calgary, I suggest you just go to a hockey store (or two, or three) and buy there. That way you can see and feel the equipment, plus prices aren't all that different nowadays anyway. Especially if you calculate the cost of shipping.

If you're thinking about ordering from a U.S. site for delivery in Canada, you're going to have to pay shipping, taxes and custom/duty fees which makes it not worthwhile either.

Any US shop that violates their contracts and ships to Canada should have better pricing than a Canadian shop.

The shops aren't aloud to ship to Canada?

Last time I checked the dealer agreements from most manufacturers prohibited cross-border shipments.

NBH, THC (CCM, RBK, Koho, Jofa) and Easton cannot be shipped outside of the US. New mission products cannot be shipped to the UK.

what is the purpose of this agreement ? to protect each other's countries sales)? (e.g if I buy a hockey stick from another country then someone/store is losing a sale in my own country) ?

When the CDN $ was in the dumps, US players used to order from Canada, saving a ton of money. That rule was put in to stop that.

Just don't ship UPS. They'll rob you blind with their duty, handling, and GST. I just learned the hard way paying $57.33 for my $105 stick plus $18 shipping. Never had a problem with USPS. Shipping is cheaper and so far has slid right through customs.
