willy0314 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 This might end up being the game that pushes me to buying a xbox 360. Anybody have a new xbox with a non-HD tv? I've heard people say its hard to see the games without HD because things end up blurry. Wondering if im going to be buying a new TV or not...
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 I don't have a HD tv and it works just fine. Obviously a HD will enhance, but I'm good for now.

I've heard people say its hard to see the games without HD because things end up blurry. Wondering if im going to be buying a new TV or not...i played 360 on a regular tv for the longest time but last month I bought a new 19" widescreen monitor and after seeing my friends games on his monitor I decided that I had to buy a VGA cable and now I'm playing 360 HD on my monitor. Cheaper solution to HD Gaming if you don't have a HDTV and it works well but if you need 1080p/i then get an HDTV.

mik3 1 Report post Posted August 11, 2007 So far NHL 08 looks like a buy and 2k8 looks like a rent. And this is after 2k sports supremely won me away from EA due to MLB2k7
Dougie8 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2007 As you said earlier about the refs being able to kick the centres outta the faceoff , JR. EA had that in earlier games.. '05 maybe? I'm not sure on what year, but I found it just got annoying. Sure it makes it more realistic which ends up making the game alot more fun.

Cavs019 710 Report post Posted August 11, 2007 It didn't run out, 2K and MLB came to terms on an exclusivity contract in retaliation to the Madden/NFL deal. The animations look weird, and those automated moves are really not my cup of tea. Rent-maybe buy out of respect for the 'squad.

fastbrother7 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2007 Hands down, with the exception of MS NHL Rivals for XBOX ( 01 I think ) and NHL 94 ( EA sports, Sega Genesis ), 2K sports makes the best hockey games period. People always talk about how realistic it should be, and they want to see the sweat dripping from the players face and all that, but I prefer a happy medium. I dont want to sacrifice control for graphics. NHL 2K6 was a great example of a game that let you do whatever you wanted to with the puck. 2K7 was pretty similar as well. I would say that EA has footbal locked up, but they will never have a hockey monopoly, at least in my book.
Jarick 5 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 2k6 for the PS2 was TERRIBLE. I had to abandon 10 seasons and reformat the memory card because the game would lock up at the load screen. Same thing happened with my buddy's copy as well on his PS2. Never did get to the playoffs.2k7 was at least fixed, but not much else different.
sabre09923 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 2K5 was fun though!Looks like EA is where I'm going. Revamped skill stick, one-on-one deking, create-a-play, awesome graphics, better defensive play...

I may be biased because I had NHL07 last year, but I just thought the 2k8 game looked extremely boring compared to the EA version. Also, there is something wrong with the player models. They all look like hunchbacks skating around. And if every face off is going to become a lockup of the two centers that is just ridiculous. It will quickly become tedious to have a guy tossed from the circle too.If you watch the EA game you can see they fixed the major thing the 2k owners pointed out last year, that the positioning sucked (especially defensemen holding the blue line.) So much better AI, less trickle goals and now online leagues means 2K has lost pretty much any advantage they had. It was inevitable though, EA is just a huge machine of a company and they finally put someone in charge that knows how to take advantage of that. I might even buy Madden this year, something I swore I'd never do but they've finally made a good looking, smart football game.

I bought 07 for my PSP and that was pretty cool. I bought my first madden last year and it was worth it. Ill most likely buy both 2k8 and 08 for my 360, and I may buy madden, but I will buy it used and save 20 bucks or so.
RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted August 15, 2007 So, the guy at EB Games told me today that this game is not coming out for Regular Xbox :(I believe his exact words were "Reg Xbox is done!"Crap.Does anyone else know otherwise...? those guys always seem so disinterested in bothering to give you the right info when you ask. Artymous 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2007 Not sure why people like the 2K series so much. It's pure Arcade, and is missing some things that would really put it on top. Even with settings pumped up so that I *shouldn't* be able to score 20 goals a game, I score 20 goals a game. Goalies are unrealistic and let in bad shots just so they won't get a shut-out (I'll play pretty much perfect defense and have my goalies let in shots from the blue line in the last 40 secs.. ya right).I don't like the contract system at all, which seems designed to make sure you can't retain players... sure, that may be realistic to the NHL, but eh, and the game-play is rubbery and basic.Plus, Bob Cole and Harry Neale as commentators make my teeth ache. They are bad live, they are worse recorded.. especially Neale's little "Explain the game" segments where he rattles on and doesn't actually manage to say much of anything.. ouch. They're back for 2K8 too, so that's just the nail in the coffin. I'll probably go back to NHL08, or maybe even skip hockey gaming this year completely. Next year, when I finally have a PS3, I'll reconsider.

sabre09923 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2007 Ouch. Graphics aren't too good.Though in the last picture, I take it that that's you JR! S15's, V-Hex (well, flyweight), it can't be anybody but you! It's hard to tell that they're S15's though, without their shiny S15 markings.
