Video Game Console Question

Recommended Posts

I would get ps3

Free online

Bluetooth

In my eyes better technically overall

No bad rep of being shoddy and needing replacement

Blu Ray is going to get bigger than HD dvd

OK, go do it. Sony needs more people like you.

I've recently gotten back into playing video games.. Laugh all you want but mortal kombat and the new twisted metal game on my ps2. I want to get a 360 or ps3.. but I know that an HDTV is not in my future anytime soon.

I could save up and get a smaller sized HDTV and not have any money to get a new system, or I could get a new system and play it on my 27inch flatscreen.

Will it suck playing next gen on a regular TV or will the graphics still be better and games look and sound good? I'd be getting NHL, Grand Theft, Twisted Metal , Guitar Hero..

Is the paragraph supposed to say 360 or ps3. If not I'm lost. Haha

Yeah, my B.

360 or a ps3.

And I grew up with Twisted Metal on the original Playstation and the signs are strongly pointing towards a new one for the PS3. That might just seal the deal for me on which way to go combined with GTA.

My question is.. is next gen platform worth it on a non HD tv?

I would say 360. but about the graphics either way its your tv that is going to let your next gen console show its full "potential". I just got 32" HDTV and it makes everything so much better but I played with a regular tv for a year and it was still great.

Yea, well I have a PS3 myself and couldn't be happier. I have played on both a standard tv and my 46" Sony Bravia. The HDTV makes it quite a bit different, but playing on the standard def. tv was als fun. IF I were you I'd go the PS3 route. It has many great features such as blu-ray (which in the new update coming will feature BD Live - sick feature) and has free online gaming compared to Xbox live. Just my 2¢

I am a very avid gamer and if you see my previous post I had trouble with red ring xboxs in the past and sold my 360. Well I went and bought a PS3 and I couldnt have been more disappointed, there is just no good games that can keep me wanting that system. It collects dust unplayed in my room because I bought another 360. Live is far superior than PS3 online and blu ray is not worth it for me since I cant play them on my laptop.

If you like playing decent games, theres no choice better than 360.

That's a complete matter of opinion. I think PlayStation's are almost better for RPG style games, and their even in sports as far as aI'm concerned which is mostly all I play. It all depends what you like. That's like saying a certain brands hockey stick is a piece of shit because it didn't work for you. It may be best for someone else.

Well the games I'm into are hockey and i would definately want the newest Grand Theft Auto.

Im not really a diehard follower of any games really, but aside from motorstorm and the upcoming twisted metal most games I know i will want in the future are on both platforms..

I also pretty much hate the xbox controller and the way it feels in the hand..

and to top it off I do buy a decent amount of DVDs to watch at home..

I think the PS3 would be my choice I just dont know if its worth it to spend all that cash on a regular TV

You definitely get the next-gen graphics but they're optimized on an HDTV. I know personally with NHL, you can see the whole ice with a HDTV while it is more cut off on a regular TV. Graphics wise still pretty awesome.

You are exactly right, to each their own. Both are good systems and have advantages and disadvantages.

Sorry to bump and old topic but I really didn't want to start a new one. I want to buy a gaming system so I can play NHL 09. I can get an xbox 360 arcade for $200 which is way less then a PS3. My only problem is I'm wondering if Microsoft is going to come out with a new system soon? I'd feel like an idiot if I go out and buy a 360 and then I find out they're coming out with a new generation of consoles.. I'd like to be able to keep the system for at least 2 years from now without having to update to a newer system. I know the PS3 is pretty new so this wouldnt be an issue. Any help? Thanks

I'm waiting for the Xbox half-cab backside bluntslide, that shit's gonna be da bizzomb!!

Really, though. Xbox 360 arcade? No hard drive, and the memory cards are 'spensive. Go ps3, or head over to hot topic and get the halo3 edition with a 20GB for $200.
