Recommended Posts

They are wood correct? Or are you getting some composites?

Zach

My christian customs were wood, the TPS blades are composite.

Zach

I have one that's a little soft that I'll send you as long as you cover the shipping. I had to pay full boat on my last batch so I'm hoarding them like a fat kid with candy. If you want it PM your paypal and address.

Is there much of a difference between the XN10 and the Adrenaline? Just wonderin because theyre both dirt cheap at my LHS (no its not sportchek) .

I thought the adrenaline felt a little more blade heavy and it felt cheap... I just didn't like it upon picking it up, admittenly I have never used one but that was just an initial thought.

The Adrenaline does feel and look a little cheap, but it performs well. I liked it a lot better than the XN10 that I had. The dampening system in the shaft is nice and durability is also good. If I had to pick between the two I'd go with the Adrenaline.

The Adrenaline is the only stick I've ever seen that is universally disliked when it comes to appearance. Virtually everyone who looks at it says that it looks cheap. The Adrenaline Control is the same stick but in a nicer color scheme but virtually everyone likes it.

If the shaft is the OPS Xn10 with the original blade heated and pulled out, then yes, put a tapered blade in it.

If the shaft is a redlite Xn10, then no, put a standard blade in it.

Ok, I just bought 2 XN10 shafts for the $90 deal. Any suggestions on what blade I should put in them? Are they tapered?

They are tapered.

I'd like to hear suggestions for this as well. For the time being, I'm probably going to put in either a wood R2 blade, or one of my tapered christian wood blades.

Can anyone comment on how this shaft compares to the non-XN10 R2 shaft?

Not surprisingly I have one of the original R2 shafts as well. The XN10 version has much more kick, unlike other sticks that have a big kick it's very consistent with the R2XN10. It's a lighter and better performing stick.

I loved my xn 10s ive gone through three in the last like 2 years and just loved them too bad they are so hard to find now. I ve also had two original r2's for like 3 years still havent broke them. I also agree with the post saying the xn10 has a consistent big kick

Are the /06 response armor sticks any good?

As I mentioned earlier in this topic, there were breakage problems with them.

At my LHS the R2's have "Pro Stock # 061" written on the nameplate. I'm not a big fan of that kind of labeling on that kind of stick.

The R2-R6 models are "price point" sticks that are all made overseas, and the higher the number, i.e. the R4 and R6, have less fibreglass and more carbon in the shafts.

The R8's still hand-made at TPS's factory in Wallaceburg, Ontario--there are different retail "Pro Stock" models from the actual sticks the pros use, but they use the same manufacturing processes from lay-up to baking and painting. They're not one-piece sticks--they're still fused shafts and blades.

They test every shaft's flex and dimensions, they weigh each shaft, and they sacrifice one of each bake's 100 shafts, flexing it to the point of brekage and analyze its contents to make sure that the batch is up to their quality control standards.

I know pro is still done in Ontario, that helps with turnaround when I have to order blades. I'll have to try one of the new longer hosel blades when my stack of P31s are gone. My R8 only says "designed in Canada" and had a "Made in china" sticker on it when I got it.

I've noticed that, too. They seem to do some outsourcing on occasion--if you go through a line-up of the top-of-the-line TPS sticks, whether it's the R8, the Adrenaline, XN-10, Response Plus, or the original Response, the majority thereof were made in Canada, but if you flip enough shafts over, the newer ones say "Designed in Canada" and are made in China (all their composite goalie sticks are made in Vietnam), and with the older model sticks, some were produced in the U.S. and Mexico.

They're really happy with their overseas lineup of equipment in general--when I toured their factory they said they'd went so far as to make sure they had a native Canadian Chinese-speaking engineer head up their Chinese stick facility, and they feel that their R6 line, throughout the lineup, is comparable to most companies' top-of-the-line gear.

You work for TPS?

Just had a factory tour for a piece on Kukla's Korner. It was a great experience, and, for Metro Detroit, anyway, they're more or less "local."

My new TPS Response Armor has "Pro Stock #061" written on it. I was a bit apprehensive when I opened the box to my new stick the other day and it said that on it. I thought that I had just gotten a knock off of a retail product. Very misleading.

I wish I could find a Redlight XN10 Control (the grippy shaft) in either regular or whip flex.

Redlight XN10 (non control)....they are available from Hockey Giant

They all are like that. Very misleading and confusing especially when it comes to selling them.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of that practice. I'm really disappointed in TPS because of this. I didn't mind the SMUs but this is now across the board, very shady buisness practice if you ask me. Hopefully someone will with some pull will read this and reconsider this type of branding. TPS, you don't need to mislead customers to sell products, the products are good enough to start getting more and more recognition.

Now, TPS has moved their production to China.

Are the lower end models only made in China or is everything made in China now? Reason I'm asking is because I walked into Sport Check a few weeks ago and they were selling the Response+ and Adrenaline Control for 100$ Canadian. I picked them up and they didn't seem the same as the older Response+ and Adrenalines which were made in Canada. Is it the same stick or a cheaper model and just branded with older stick models?

That's the stuff that I find unethical to say the least.

That said, Kovalchuck71 found someone with a stash of R2XN10s.

I picked up half a dozen, go ahead and buy him out now. It's a reputable chain, one of our other members works in one of the stores and I have picked up a few things from them in the past.

Sigh...only intermed. and juniors left now...

Damn, I was thinking of placing a follow-up order for another half dozen.
