Hockey bag that can hold stick

Recommended Posts

Is there such a bag? I am allowed to bring 2 pieces of baggages but if I am bring my sticks and my bag seperatedly, I can't bring my 3rd piece. So I am just wondering if there is such a bag that would also have a compartment to hold my sticks as well. Thank you.

If not, how do you guys pack your hockey stuffs when you travel abroad with them?

Hockey equipment in one bag, sticks in anothe bag (LOCK IT ALL UP) and then clothes in a carry-on tote bag. Or if you need a bunch in a bag inside of the hockey bag.

Put your clothes in a small seperate bag and stick it in your hockey bag.

I would also do the 3 bags. You just pay extra for the 3rd bag (usually $50)

If you lock it, get one of these type of locks or else TSA will just cut it.

You can buy them online here:

Probably find them in B&M stores too.

Can you ship either your sticks or equipment or both to your destination? If so, it would make travel through the airports faster and easier.

I am not sure how much or how long it would take me to ship the equipment + stick from Vancouver back to Hong Kong...but then it would for sure be much more convinient if I don't have to haul a big bag of hockey equipment through customs...especially when I come back to Canada... so I guess sticks really need to be transported seperately unless I tape them to the bag?

What airline is it? Cause I have traveled many times and gear bag and sticks count as 1 bag. Have you checked with the airlines to see what they say?

Do they charge you extra $$ for that? So you could bring over an extra luggage as well, right? I am flying with a new airline this time...Oasis Hong Kong.

I recently got a wheel bag, and I'm kinda unsure about using it on trips, the way baggage handlers throw bags around. Thing is, my old bag is too small for my stuff now. Any way to, say, remove the wheel set up, then put it back together at my destination?

I still use the same cheap ITECH/Cyclone Taylor wheel-less bag I used when I started playing hockey. I just weighted the bag of gears today...roughly 30 LBS.

i'm sure sticks and bag only count as one piece combined, and there shouldn't be an extra charge, however oasis' website is not very detailed concerning baggage.

can you call them?? normally in the us i can pack stuff for a week in the carry on baggage. however your airline has much smaller carry-on size restrictions than here so that is not an option.

i would call the airline (vancouver i suppose) and ask them. another alternative of course, is just to pay to check another bag which is usually around $50.

so bottom line is 2 choices:

1:stuff as much clothes in your hockey bag and carry on as possible

2:call, and if the stick and bag are in deed 2 bags, just pay $50 for the third bag because shipping gear overseas is gonna cost you a whole lot more than $50.

The vast majority of bags that people check have wheels.

Most airlines have a sports equipment policy which allows sticks for free with a hockey bag. As a fair warning, most hockey bags are oversized and the airline can charge you for that (Southwest has made me pay twice over 4 years, 8 flights).

They must also meet the weight requirements.

THanks, the weight requirement is ok since the hockey bag is not really that heavy. Just worry about the size right now. Also, do I have to go check the stuffs in in advance or do I just bring them to the counter when I check in. As for the sticks, do I just tape em to the hockey bag or should I buy a stick sleeve and just bring them seperately?

Yet another quesiton, for those of you in Canada, do I have to go to the custom office to register all my gears in order to avoid getting taxed on the gear when I come back to the country? Thank you very much for all the help from you guys!
