Hockey_Heaven 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2007 Im pretty sure it depends on the level of hockey your playing. If your playing highschool then you will need them, however if your playing juniors then they shouldnt care

If your playing highschool then you will need them, however if your playing juniors then they shouldnt careunless the ref is a complete prick they shouldn't care, i played highschool all year without them and never had a word mentioned to me other than our trainer told me i should put them back on if i didn't want to lose an ear. My response to that was, "ok, well in the NHL, they don't even cover their faces so i think my ears will be fine" Now i know with my luck that is gonna come back and bite me in the ass sooner or later... Chadd 916 Report post Posted July 12, 2007 I have seen it called a lot and I have frequently told teams not to put a kid on the ice until they have the ear protection back in the helmet. That said, a lot of refs are lazy and choose not to enforce the rules. I do it to cover my ass because I know that if something happens the parents are going to sue everyone even remotely involved with letting their kid break the rules. Except for them and their kid, of course.

TBLfan 25 Report post Posted July 12, 2007 if you take them off make sure you keep them and a tool to put them on in your bag. Better to make a quick run to the locker room then to ride the pine for the night.

ramensandwich 1 Report post Posted July 12, 2007 now the question is how do i take them out of a mission intake?take the j-clips off the side and you can take the ear guards out from the inside. you might have to loosen the little dome snap screws at the back a bit too. i took them out of my intake at the rink with a dime in like 3 minutes so you should be able to handle it loljust when you put the little screw retainers back inside to hold your j-clips, don't let them drop between the epp foam and the plastic shell or their a pain in the ass to get back out
B Neal 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2007 During all the select festivals this year they were really strict on ear guards

sc37 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2007 I'd add as a sidenote...I took my earguards off recently cause I had issues with hearing with all the wind noise wooshing by it. And my luck, I get caught square in the ear tonight, gushing blood every where. Ear guards are going back on, that's all I know!
Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2007 I don't wear them on my 4500, I like the airation and hearability.

TBLfan 25 Report post Posted July 16, 2007 thorpedo...how do they bother you? they arent even touching your ears...you are most likely doing it because you think you will look cool in it having your hair come out...trust me bud your notI know it wasn't addressed to me but I thought I might share my feelings(I know, I have something to say to everything).I take the earguards off of all my helmets. My HT2's ear guards rubbed against my ears so I took them off. I felt that I could hear better and I felt that the airflow was nice. None of the helmets I've had since actually rubbed against my ears but they just feel soo much more open without the guards for some reason.
bekster 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2007 I took the ear-guards off my bauer 4000 recently. They didnt touch my ears or at least that was not the problem. But they made the padding behind the ear where the earguards are attached to the helmet press against my head. On my old 4000 i just cut a hole in the padding, but i didnt want to do that to my new one.And i have to say it feels great without! And i THINK i dont have to wear them as a senior player in Germany ..
ramensandwich 1 Report post Posted July 16, 2007 you all are missing the point here. ear guards weigh 10 grams a piece, we all know lighter is better lol
