short hosel blades

Recommended Posts

what is the real point of short hosel blades, especially in tapered shafts? what is the difference between short and long hosel tapered blades and is there actually any benefit from short hosel blades?

maybe because the blade is stiffer? i remember chadd saying the blade flexes too when u shoot, so im guessing that the cutting a stick theory has to go with this, the shorter the hosel is the stiffer the blade will be, therefore less flex and less breakage.....maybe lol

You're closee, the shorter the hosel, the stiffer the hosel will be. Assuming of course that the other measurements are the same. It will not change the stiffness of the blade.

do particular tapered shafts require specific hosel length blades (ie does the t-flex shaft need a long hosel tapered blade, does a mission flyweight shaft need a short hosel tapered blade). I am assuming that you can switch short and long hosel blades into any tapered shaft but for optimal performance it best to use the recommended hosel length ? Long hosel tapered blades are hard to find so I am wondering if its okay to put a short hosel blade into my t-flex shaft ?

The only thing I can think of would be length, but if you like a shorter stick then a short hosel in a T-Flex is fine. I put standard hosels in a Synth shaft and it felt all right, but to me the Synth blades felt goofy enough.

I think shorter hosel blades make the quality of the shaft more important. Longer hosel blades have pretty universally more feel, so when you reduce that, how well the shaft transmits the feel of the puck becomes more important. At least it has in my experience.

how is the flex zone of the shaft affected with long and short hosel blades ? I am now curious how the flex zone or optimal kick point is affected by putting a short hosel blade into a t-flex shaft ?

Thanks :)

Putting a short hosel blade into a t-flex will make it feel stiffer since it was designed to have a long hoseled blade which would flex along with the shaft.

It will make it feel stiffer, but just by putting a different blade in it, it can't actually make the shaft itself stiffer.
