CCM Vector helmet

Recommended Posts

The Carbster was A bit before my addiction with gear. I heard that it was the most protective helmet to this day, but from the looks of it, what a fugly helmet. LOL!! I laugh when I see guys like Carter and Kozlov still wearing them.

You left one out.

Seriously though, it was a great helmet if it fit you. Mine rubbed me right behind my ear but was great other than that.

Now that Cascade has come out, it is the helmet of choice for the Great Gazoo.

Those things are absolute dogs. We ordered them (against my will) and people look at them and move on.

Yes, I can see why...

Not to get off the orig. subject but I dont understand why these guys (Cascade) just dont simply approach companies like NBH or RBK just to name a couple and say; Look this is what we have come up with for superior protection. How about you cut me a check and I'll sign the rights over to you. I know that in the automotive industry and my industry people have done this and have made out pretty well. Is this an ego thing or what?

Even with the magic swoosh logo these still wouldn't sell any better than the Quest.

Well, that's what forsberg91's coach did with the Vector...

I'm not bashing or anything, I just think that in the long run after all the R & D, tooling, marketing and so on is done and then after maybe a year or so of business and they go under for not being a top dog that in the end they would have thought twice about doing that. I'm all for free market but lets face it, Kids buy what they see the pro's wearing. And Warrior bought a hockey company they didnt just jump in feet first. A bunch of Pro's used their stuff and WADDYAKNOW!!! $$$$$$$$$$

I've been using the Bauer 8000 helmet for about the past year and I previously had no problems with it. Great fit, good protection, but recently the foam on the inside has fallen out in multiple places so I was looking into getting a new helmet that hopefully didn't have that problem but was a similar fit. I was looking for a helmet with better foam on the inside hopefully and came across the new CCM helmet/cage combo. Thinking it was stylish and fairly inexpensive i wanted to order it offline because i wasn't sure if i would have time to get a new helmet before the season but i was hesitant because i wasn't sure if the fit would be all right. Does anyone who has this helmet know how similar the fit is to the Bauers cause i have only previously had the 5000 and 8000 helmets which fit fine

Exactly. Every company had to start somewhere.

I wear a medium 4000/5000/8000 but I have to wear a large Vector.

Don't want to get too OT, but anyone got any input on the cage that you can get with it? Looks kinda like an Itech. Haven't seen it FS individually, but would be a nice choice once I get around to shopping for a cage.

Hmmm, thats interesting. Do you have to adjust the Bauers to a fairly large setting on the medium size, or do you generally leave it?

on the 4000 i just leave it on the smallest

5000 i need to make it about 1 or 2 notches bigger

8000 i just leave it

I just got the Vector helmet from icewarehouse. It's $69.99 from them, too, but free shipping if you spend $5 more. I have been wearing Jofa 690s since they came out and would have gotten another one but for the fact that I needed yellow and I couldn't find any in the states. $100 for a three-year-old helmet from some crazy Euro retailer seemed a little silly.

Anyway, it is very similar to the 690 but for the back which goes down about 1/2 an inch lower on the Vector and probably accounts for the slight increase in weight. Looks pretty good with a mirrored pro-wave mounted. Seems like a deal for $70. Venting may be a little less than my Jofa. The side adjustments will definitely hold but don't plan on popping them open with your fingernail....

That's really odd. I wear a large 692, a large in bauer helmets but I fit in a medium vector on the largest setting.

I believe it may be the new CCM Vector cage:

Supposably the biggest openings allowable by hockey law...

CCM/JOFA 480 looks good on it. A friend of mine just put it on. Try to get a pic of it tonight.

I was just thinking about what that would look like. If you could get that up that would be great man

I have had a Vector for around 2 months now. I played for the last 8 years with the Bauer/Cooper/Nike 3000 helmets. Old CCM helmets just never felt right. I wore a Medium Bauer (on max extension) and have a Medium CCM (only extended a little). The size guidance on IW was pretty much spot on.

I really like the new CCM as it feels light but doesn't imbalance with a half shield on. The air vents are great at the front for inline. I imagine the Mission would be exactly the same for air flow, but just looked huge on my head.

I like the foam in the CCM, can't remeber which kind it is, as it sort of "sticks" the helmet to your head and prevents the slipping I used to get with the Bauer (pale coloured foam).

I was in my LHS today and tried on a number of helmets, the two that fit me best being the CCM Vector and the Mission Intake. I went to the reviews section and read only good things about the intake, but with nothing about the Vector I had to refer to this thread. I was just a little curious about the thinness of the foam if it is still protective and also how people compare this helmet to the Intake and which they like better?

I had a intake and changed for the vector. Its basicly the same thing but the intake look (if you are into looks) bigger on your head.I get the same protection from both.SO go for the look because the rest was the same for me.
