Ballistik Hockey Sticks

Recommended Posts

Hi folks. I was surprised when nothing came up in my search as this group knows equipment inside-out.

I'm wondering if any one has experience with Ballistik composite hockey sticks? I've seen them on eBay, then looked at their site http://www.ballistikhockey.com and they seem legit.

They claim to have made over 1.5 million composite sticks for several of the big brands and this is their factory retail division.

I'm a beer league guy, who is looking for a cheap way to try a compsite stick with some whip/flex as I'm only 165 pounds and I'd like to put some more pizazz on my shots.

Do you think these are worth a try? $100 Cdn + shipping will get you one.

Chadd and myself have both been player reps for Ballistik at one point. I can't speak for him but I did not try out their OPS. Their top-end shaft was decent. Comparable to an Easton UL in weight although I'd probably opt for the UL given a choice between the 2. The shaft seemed to be very durable and lasted long until I eventually sold them off.

This probably doesn't help much in your decision on the OPS, but other than an Easton Havoc you won't find a cheaper OPS. I'd say it's good enough to use for a beer league at that price. If you buy one, be sure to post a review.

The light OPS is the only senior that comes in 70 as far as I can remember and it weighs a ton compared to any of the other OPS on teh market. The ultra is closer to the weight of other OPS but only comes in 90 or 105.

They are no good from what I have heard. They fall apart easy and they weigh a ton as stated above. I have a friend that had a rep on his team and the whole team bought them. After a little while they had nothing but bad things to say about them. But as I stated, this is all what I heard and not what I have used, so it is all second hand info, but it came from a group of guys not just one or 2. But to each his own. You never know you may like something that others dont!

Yeah, it's a tricky situation. They say if you don't like it after one try you can mail it back and only eat $10 in postage. I'll shop around for a good summer deal on a more popular OPS, but failing getting something in the $100 range I may give it a go.

Thanks for the help.

I have a Ballistik shaft (Ultra light 90 flex), it doesnt have much kick but its the most durable mofo i've ever used. After 3 months and a crapload of slashing (and getting slashed) its got a grand total of 2 dents. I'd try out the whip flex shaft for the heck of it.

I have this particular shaft model and was curious on how good/bad it was.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WD1V

My review on this shaft is it is an entry level shaft. So so feel, but one of the heaviest shafts I have ever used (around 400 grams). The flex was fine (mid-90 flex) and the durability is good as well.

In my opinion, its not worth paying $35 on ebay for it so if the original poster wanted to really try it out I will sell you my shaft for $10 plus shipping.

Thanks for the offer fasty, but 90 is too stiff for my feeble shot, hence the reason I'm looking to try something that has some whip, like a 70 on the Easton scale.

I'm curious to know if a stick with that much whip will affect face-offs or receiving passes with a bit of heat on them (I play centre).

Cheers,

JJTT

I was curious enough to order one because you can send it back...

It went back as it never hit teh ice... the blade was soooo damn heavy..

I also ordered an ultralight shaft and kept it.. It was a 90 flex... and it was too whippy for me.. I like an easton 100 for reference...

The shaft has since been passed on to two others and they have loved it.. cant kill the thing.. I have since taken a few shots with a TPS ptc blade in it and it was not bad,

It been through two seasons with someone besides me and its held up well...

But there other better choices

If you're looking for something whippy AND durable, I'd suggest one of the TPS Rubber shafts (Epuck has them for something like $50)

or an Inno 1100 (they have some at Hockey and Skate Outlet - for reference, a Inno300 = Easton80, Inno340=Easton75, Inno380=70, and a Inno420=approx65). They used to have some "Hull Flex" 1100. If you looking for durable and whip, this might be the way to go.

Now, these aren't one-pieces, but.....

The blades don't seem to match the shaft, they seem too small for the shaft. The shaft has an extremely boxy feel, even our intermediates feel a decent size in my hands. That's probably our second highest selling stick behind the Rebellion. We've probably unload a good 30-40 OPS and we've had 1 come back from breakage. They are durable, heavy and it seems you either love them or hate them. A junior kid or two was using them and loved them, but alot more opted to go in a different direction.

Ha...funny to see this post come back to the surface. I never ended up trying a Ballistik as I picked up a used Easton Ultra Light shaft (85 flex) from the Modsquad buy and sell section. It works for me as right now I'm a happy camper.

There are many proven great OPS' available in the $99 price range right now, such as the TPS XN10.

EDIT: LOL, whoops, I didn't realize this thread was almost a year old and someone bumped it.

I used to be a player rep for them but the prices kept going up and the quality was still marginal.

Honestly, the composite is probably not going to give you a stronger shot. I haven't bought into the hype that you get a stronger shot, and oh yea, I face about 50 shots a day, 4 times a week. The guys with the composites don't shoot any harder than the guys with the woodies.

Why not try a 85 flex Sherwood 5030 if you want some whip.

pretty heavy shafts... but they are tanks. I've been the player rep in Singapore for some time, a couple of the guys on my team and the Uni team are using the shafts i brought in a few years back... so far so good.

I'm about 6ft tall, 205lbs. I dont normally use a slapper, more snap and wristers. Been using it for about 2years before i got my cut off synergy. Now its my backup.
