Taping your toe

For those of you with round toes, how do you guys tape your toes of your blade. I usually put tape in the middle of the toe extending lengthwise towards the heel,then put i piece a little above the middle nad a little below the middle extending diagonally, then begin to do the wrapping from heel to toe. The tape covers the toe, but there has to be a better way. When i do it this way the tape seems to peel on the toe easy.

So how do you guys tape your toes?

i run a piece of tape along the bottom of the blade that goes all the way around the toe, ending up on the top. then i wrap heel to toe the entire thing (as if the toe was square), take a knife and cut the excess tape off the corners.

sometimes, i take 3 pieces of tape, run them lengthwise one on top of the other wraping around the toe, then you can just wrap from heel to toe until you get almost the end, then tear, easy.

if nobody puts pics up, i can throw a few up on tuesday...

I continue winding the tape around the blade, but I keep the overlap pattern and stick the tape to itself, enveloping the toe. Then I trim the extra.

I tape to the end and past the end, then smooth it, and then cut the little bits sticking off

That's exactly how I do mine.

Step 1: Start with your bare blade.

Warning: Nudity

Step 2: Place strip of tape along the toe of the blade on the backhand side. Trim excess with scissors.

Step 3: Repeat Step 2 on forehand side of blade.

Step 4: Tape blade from heel-to-toe until tape overlaps with strips covering toe.

...now all you have to do is rub the tape down a bit, then wax it up and you'll be good to go...

Personally I find its better to place on strip of tape along the edge of the toe. Fighting for the puck in the corners and poke checking is usually what causes the most damage to the toe. For me its right at the end of the toe that is destroyed (I guess from poking). After finished taping up the stick I place a second strip of tape along the edge of the toe to give it even more protection. After the game is over that strip of tape is pretty banged up so I take it off and re-apply another strip. Works pretty good for me. It may not look pretty but I value my pro stock wood blades.

I usually only tape about 1" away from the toe for about 5".

Edit: Then again, I rarely use wood blades.

for the longest time, i taped from the heel until about 2.5 inches from the toe, leaving it totaly exposed. i shoot from the heel so i figured i was saving tape, then i started demolishing my blades at the toe, so i started doing this. i'd rather buy a 3 dollar role of tape than a 20 dollar blade anyday.

I do my regular taping heel to toe then stop about an inch or half inch away. Then i rip off a piece of tape from the roll and start overlapping them until it covers the hole toe.

I take some wide white, start from the backhand mid-heel and tape leaving just a bit of overlap to make a few ridges, then tape over the toe and cut down with scissors.

i used to tape the the toe but i leave the toe exposed now,i shoot from the heel and i figure if i am going do damage to the blade, the tape won't save it that much,
