Suffering succotash!! This is ridiculous! But Madison Square Garden on the inside is not always like NYC is on the street side, where pretty much anything goes. Avery and Malik are costing the Rangers huge points even as the evil Jagr tries his damndest and we have to worry about offending gay Ranger fans. I find this offensive. "Douglas Wambaugh for the lilliputians!"

Jags has 2 goals in two games - I'll back off him for a bit, but I'll be damned if the gays take away my entertainment in the blue seats. Aside from analyzing the game and trying to figure out player motivation, the entertainment I get from being up there makes the game a game!

Well sounds like there won't be a new garden. They said they are just going to renivate the garden. The politians are pissed, they wanted the garden to be over Monahan station.

Sooo... anyone else pissed that the rangers lost these last 2 to the flyers? In OT??? Even more surprised that Jagr had 2 goals.

As a Caps fan I was very pissed. I expected you all to down Philly and help us out. Come on we are paying for part of Jagr's salary at least give us a few helpful wins :D

Per TSN.ca

"The Latest: Rangers' Jaromir Jagr said he would meet with representatives from Avangard Omsk of the Russian Elite League about possibly playing for the team next season after his contract expires. "

Spector's had something about this. To summerize: Jags is going to meet with the owner of the Russian team and discuss his future. Slats is also going to meet with the owner to discuss Jagr's situation, and if Jags decides to leave, Slats wants the Russsian team to release Cherapanov from his contract there prematurely so he can come play for the Rangers next season.

Seems fair to me!

It'll be tough for him as Cherepanov seems pretty set to stay with Avangard for another season, and if Jagr comes over there for 08-09, Alexei would probably have that much more motivation to stay onboard the extra year for the chance to play with Jagr.

I've got a couple things.....

Whats the deal with prucha? Do they just not have enough room for him?...... Are they going to deal him next year or for a pick?.....Does renny have something against him?

Also the dancing larry thing..... Why are they calling him a homo? Maybe it annoys the season ticket holders but as for me, when I go every once in a while, I enjoy seeing him and showing people that have never seen him before. I think its wrong that larry is showing support for the team and getting the crowd into it and he being called a homo for it. I'd like to see if one of the people that call him a homo have the balls to get up and do what he does.

Josh larry is a great guy, and hes not gay. The homo larry chat is just a joke but sure enough one person was offended and than they banned his dancing. It would be so funny if they whistled the strike it up song he dances to and he dances with that.

Man, I hope Cheraponov plays next year. I'm hoping Marian Hossa and Cheraponov replace Jagr and Shanny. It's time to move on, Our younger guys need to move up to larger roles, plus Hossa and CHeraponov will score more goals than Jags and Shanny.

Shanny will be missed though, wish he was a ranger longer but it's time to move on and there are just so many rostor spots and cap room.

Looking at our payroll obligations next year, signing Hossa could be tough. I have heard a number of sources indicate there is some interest, but the reality is that we have a lot of money tied up in 3 players (Dru, Gomer, Henrik), Jags (if he stays) is still going to get 3 - 4 mil at least, Aves is going to get a raise, etc., etc.

This is going to shock some people, but I really don't mind if Jags stays one more season, but with a paycut and a diminished role on the team. I don't think he's a number #1 winger anymore. Who replaces him is anybody's guess.

As far as Larry, I think it's wrong to punish him because of the actions of others. He doesn't do anything wrong by dancing and pumping up the crowd, it's the people that start yellin HOMO LARRY that need to be curbed. Maybe walk around and kick out those people when they start screaming it. I dunno - I think they just wanted a quick fix, but the way I look at it, they are listenting to the complaints of 150 people in an 18,000 seat arena.

If they are so worried about injustices, I think they should address the injustice of charging almost $9 for a Guiness - DAMN!

The cap is such a ... In a way the cap got the rangers to stop stupidly throwing away money, but it's killing me. Drury and Gomez were great signings but we need a Pure scorer, and Jags in not a pure scorer anymore. We need a player that can score atleast 40 goals and those guys are expensive.

I think Dawes can step up and be a 30 goal guy eventually, but I don't see Duby and Callahan being 30 goal scorers anytime soon if ever.

Even the Devils with their defensive minded game and brodour had a 40 goal guy in Gionta and Langdenbrunner and Ellias. Every year they won the cup, one of those guys got 40 goals.

I hope Sam Rosen didn't jinx the Rangers in 94 when he said "And this one will last a liftime".

Whos lifetime, I hope not my lifetime, I want more cups. I was 9 in 94 I want to see the Rangers win atleast...ATLEAST one more before it's my time to go.

I know hes not gay but isnt it a fans right to do what he wants as long as its not violent or offensive. Its not like hes being paid by the rangers to do it. He has a right to cheer. Isnt that why you go to a game, to support your team?

Also, if the rangers are struggling to score why not sit Orr and put in prucha? Orr is a nice enforcer and has improved but take for example the red wings.... they have 4 lines that can score and look where there at. Enforcers really arent needed anymore. The rangers can put together a decent defensive minded line with the players they have to go against the top offensive lines of other teams and still provide offense. Betts, hollweg, and orr arent going to give you any offense plus they are just average defensivly minus betts.

Heres how I'd like to see the lines....

Jagr-dubinsky-sjostrom

shanahan-gomez-prucha(or dawes)

avery-drury-straka (to go against top forwards of opposing teams)

dawes(or prucha)-betts-callahan

I think sjostrom is a sleeper. Everytime hes out there hes all over the ice and has more offensive potential than renney is using him for. I could think the lines over a little more but im in a rush. I'd like to see what lines you would put together and/or who you would leave out.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT.

Dont worry I'm not the coach. It's just for fun and discussion. Dont take it personally. Just want to hear what people think and would do if they could put the lines together and why. And I'm sure the lines you put together will take us all the way to the cup!!

Hey DS - not to be analytical or anything, but could this be the distraction to Avery and the team I was talking about a few weeks ago???

See that's the problem. It DIDN't do that, and that's why they'll have trouble picking up a pure goal scorer (or holding onto one that develops a few years down the line). When the kids like Staal, Prucha, Girardi, Dubi, Dawes, Cherapanov, etc. develop in the next 2-3 years, having all that money tied up in Gomer, Drury, and Lundqvist will come back to bite them in the ass. Granted, you can't expect them to hold onto every single piece of the puzzle, but those kids are going to be the core of this team going forward.

If you think along the lines of the current cap, then yes, it could bite them, but you also have to consider how much the cap is going to go up in the years, and also think what contracts will be like in 3 years.

You're assuming that the cap will contnue to rise the way it has these past few years. Either it will level out or there will be another lockout. I predict 1 more cap jump (based on EDGE jersey sales revenue) and then it will level out.

Also, why are we paying tomorrow's salaries today?

Drury is signed for only 4 more seasons, and Gomers annual salary goes down as he gets older. Cherapnov will be on entry level till Drury's contract ends. Prucha is gonna get traded or even go down in price cause he's overpaid now @ 1.6M. Dawes is going to be a RFA this summer so he'll probably get 1M for 3 or 4 seasons. Girardi is extended for 2 more seasons and then we'll see.

I'm mostly worried about Staal and Dubinsky. But if we get this years cap to go up and one more bump up, we'll be fine.
