Under Armour compression shorts

Recommended Posts

My son just bought a pair of these to help keep the groin area warmer and more supported.Problem is,the cup doesn't hug the way it should.Has anyone used these shorts before and had the same issue? I was thinking of sewing velcro on the pouch to keep it close and adding elastic bands.I'm not quite sure if that will work.Any ideas (other that wearing aa jockstrap underneath which is plan B )would be appreciated as I have just blown $45+tax for a jock that is not functional.

I've experienced the same problem. I think it may have to do with this particular compression short "hugging" the torso and leg area it covers tighter than your normal compression short. The few times I'm able to put the velcro on, it tears on during games. Luckily for me I wear a Bauer girdle which keeps it in place even while skating. How does your son like the fit? I have never tried a size larger but may do so for my next pair to be able to breath a little more normally in them.

That's the problem with compression shorts - the cup shifts outward due to the tight short.

You can scrap the cup and get a regular jockstrap and wear that over the compression shorts.

He hasn't worn it to practice yet but he likes the fit (large-he is 6'1 1/2 and 192lbs).I think I will invest in the jockstrap as JR suggested.

I had the same problem. I hike the legs of the short up so the crotch of the short is actually closer to my groin rather than stretched away. That way the cup seems to 'hug' better.

I use the Shock Doctor with the X thing built in. It's essentially a no-stretch cross that runs the same line as a traditional jock to try and keep things in place better. The flexible cup is really comfortable, and I've yet to have a reason to switch back to a hard shell (knock on wood). I have taken a few sticks between the legs in puck battles, but I've never felt getting hit (I think I have but never felt it).

I'm not sure how well it helps, but I mostly have the cup lift away on the bench or going over the boards. The cup also seems to drift upwards during usage, I'll use the shaft of my stick to nonchalantly slide it back down from time to time.

One time, I was sitting on the boards without my feet near the ice and fell back onto the bench. The cup lifted, the contents shifted and the edge of the cup clamped down. Everyone thought I hit my head and passed out, but I had just gotten my balls squished and didn't feel like doing more than rolling into the ice and spit-filled foot area of the bench.

I tried these once and they are wrong on so many levels. I had the worse case of swalls ever, not to mention the sheer discomfort of it all. Wash them in holy water, it still won't get that UA/taint stench out.

I had UA and had the same problem. I switched to Shock Doctor power and never looked back. No shifting and very comfortable.

Anyone know if these are available in Montreal or elsewhere in Canada? I can't find a list of retailers.

I use the Shock Doctor Power Jock and have never had any problems. Very comfortable and the cup has soft material on the edges to prevent injuries to the jewels.
