Kovy_Ribs_Fedo 3 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 Has it happen to anyone here that with time your feet have gotten bigger and/or longer?I've played with my friend yesterday at shinny and he told me that his feet has grown quite a bit since he's like 20. He's 32 now and he says that his feet are probably 3 cm longer then at 20 and they are larger too. We have to take in fact that he's also 50 pounds heavier then at 20. Is he the only freak or has it happen to some here?
Chadd 916 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 That's not very common as your feet generally reach "adult" size before most other parts of your body. Putting on weight can certainly add thickness to your foot and ankle but adding that much length, especially at that age, sounds highly unusual.
tomfu 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 Apparently, it happens to most, with time. Gravity has its ugly side...Skates that fit me in my late teens didn't fit when I laced them up again at age 30.
Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 Heh, my feet have shrunk. Went from a custom pair of Grafs w/ a 320mm holder (approx size 14 1/4)to wearing a size 11.5 in One90's.
blues_91 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 Heh, my feet have shrunk. Went from a custom pair of Grafs w/ a 320mm holder (approx size 14 1/4)to wearing a size 11.5 in One90's. But One90s also fit larger than most skates. I fit a size 7 in a Synergy 1500C and a 5.5 in the One90s, both fit the same in length. Your feet did shrink a bit though, 3 sizes is pretty drastic. Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 I can also wear an 11.5 in a Vapor XXX or Stealth S15 albeit it is hella wide. My 9K goal skates are also an 11.5. Went from a 16-17 in tennis shoes to a 13.
hockeymom 2 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 Just don't get pregnant...LOL... went up a whole shoe size out of that experience!Your feet do continue to "grow" a little bit - I suspect it is a flattening out over time.
Jordan 13 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 Your feet do continue to "grow" a little bit - I suspect it is a flattening out over time.I think that is exactly what happens. Feet take a beating, and if there is weight gain particular (pregnancy being a good example) the tendons and the ligaments can stretch a bit, flattening out the foot. This is why an insole or an orthotic can sometimes, "shorten the foot", the fallen arch gets supported in effect reversing the ravages of gravity and time. :o

ktang 34 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 Mine have grown, too. I think that guys whose feet grow a bit usually don't notice because their shoes have a bit of extra room. But skates make it really noticeable.Ears and noses grow too...
jimmy 194 Report post Posted August 25, 2007 A little off topic but.. One of my customers is a frequesnt flyer for his business, approx 6-8 flights a week, his feet swell from normal size. So if he has a game on a fly day, skates hurt and feel terrible. When he's not flying, they feel great. There are many factors that effect the feet.
chk hrd 164 Report post Posted August 25, 2007 welcome to getting older. Alot of people's feet seem to grow with age because thier arches are flattening. The ligaments and tendons stretch over time.
ktang 34 Report post Posted August 25, 2007 They say that you should buy shoes/skates/ski boots on Fridays because the feet stretch out/swell during the work week. Maybe, as we get older, they stay more stretched out/swollen.
Hockey DeVoTee 1 Report post Posted August 25, 2007 Two words..... Flip Flops! No arch support and feet tend to flatten over time.
indaslot 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2007 I think "spreading" is a more apt term than "growing" and spread they do!For me,1 full size.
Project_2501 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2007 Want to shrink them again? Take up rock climbing. A hardcore bouldering shoe goes way down in size. Last pair I tried on I went from 44 street to a 40. Ouch. =)
