Nylon Gloves

Recommended Posts

Background: I recently bought 2 pairs of bauer supreme 70 gloves from Hockey Giant. Couldn't help it at $45/pair. I was using Vapor XXs before the 70s. I always buy 2 pairs of gloves because I play roller almost everyday and I sweat like a pig (hence I alternate gloves). Usually after 3 or 4 uses, the gloves start to stink.

Question: I've only used one pair of 70s about 10 times (and it's been hot in So Cal) and they still DON'T stink!!! :D Is this a because it's a nylon glove or because the 70s have the venting "patch"? Anyone else experience this?

Thanks

I, like you, sweat like a pig. Personally, I air out my stuff everyday while I am at work. I simply spread my stuff out in the bed of my truck and my gear never stinks. Give it a shot, and you may also be able to reduce your glove inventory to just 1 too.

I have noticed the same thing with my 70s. I have warn nylon gloves for a while and they get nasty just like my pleather ones do. For some reason my 70s don't get crusty and don't hold stink like others. Maybe the palm? Thats usually the nasty part of the glove for me.

Little bit of both. But I don't think the vents on the backside is the reason, the finger gussets are breatheable and you can feel the air getting in. The vents in the back of the glove are covered by the dri-fit pad so they don't really do much.

Now that you meantion it, I just went and took a wiff of my 70's after 5 months of ice hockey use and they still aren't all that bad. Not as bad as most gloves get.

Can't respond to the gloves but I have a small corner of our walk up attic that I dry my gear out in. I spread it out with all open ends of gloves and skates facing a floor fan. Stuff dries out overnight and I have kept everything fairly smell free. Not completely, but hockey gear should stink a little !!

I have a pair of old Nike Quest 2 gloves that as I recall had some kind of anti microbial lining in them. Maybe they're doing the same for the new gloves because they still don't stink and my new One90's don't either.

Personal opinion, its because they are Supreme series gloves. I have a pair of 190 and I didnt think about the smell/breathability factor until I was playing inline hockey one night. The rink that I play inline at is quite hot and has fans on each player bench. I was sitting right by the fan and I could feel a strong breeze going over my hands!!!!!! I asked another guy on the bench to switch gloves with me and I felt nothing. Put the supremes back on and there it was again. Those are an exceptionally well designed series of gloves for breathing!!! They stay dry, they stay virtually stink free, and they are an extremely durable and protective nylon glove. 2 big thumbs up.
