Removing sticky residue from palms?

Long story short I had ordered a new OPS I didn't have any tape and went to play borrowed some and it was from a sporting good store and I could tell it was pretty crappy tape. Now there is a sticky residue on the plam of my glove. I was going to use goo gone but before using it I read the directions and it said do not use on leather. I have a pair of TPS R8. I don't want to mess up the plams either. Has this happened to anyone before?

I would try hot water and soap, and if it dosen't work it will not ruin your palms.

i have the same problem one my bauer 4 rolls...have yet to find a solution...so far i have just been pulling the residue off with my fingers as much as possible but its certainly not a solid fix for this problem...maybe some of the more senior members (jr, mack?) might have a solution for this? by the way, this has recently been a chronic problem with andover tape...it never used to be, but they must have changed something in their adhesive formula, as i have talked to others who have experienced the same thing from this brand of tape.

put baby powder on the tape. It will become sticky after a use or two, reapply babypowder. After the 2nd or 3rd time the tape won't be sticky.

I just assumed that this would be an extremely common problem so i'm surprised there isn't a well-known solution to getting the sticky residue of glove palms. I honestly dont really mind the stuff being on the glove, but from holding my stick when getting a drink etc. the stickyness has rubbed off onto the lower shaft of my stick. I don't like grip on sticks preferring clear shafts but it is starting to build up. I guees its easier just to remove the residue from my stick than my glove but if anyone knows how to get it off the palms that would great.

apparently it is a common problem though because so far there is 3 of us in this thread with the same problem. Still no results. TBL has told us how to prevent it which I am thanking him for, but I still want to know how to fix it.

I actually took a cloth and put some goo gone on it..started rubbing it on the glove and it worked well.

how are you palms? I didn't want to use goo gone because the directions say "Do Not Use on Leather, and Silk" I mean I know my palms are made out of "fine fibre hyde" and I'm not sure how it will effect them so I don't want to mess them up and have to get them repalmed.

All of my grips are made from Renfrew cloth tape and aren't sticky.

I bought a roll of tape from another store (Jaybird brand), made the grip, played a drop-in and the grip was sticky to the point I couldn't turn the stick in my hand, easily let go, etc. It was annoying as hell, and it left jazz on my glove palm.

I regripped that stick, and the goo wore off the glove after a few sessions. Though there are still a few globs worked into the leather, they don't bother me.

Best suggestion- Change tape or baby powder (as TBL said) to prevent it. If the palm isn't tacky or bothersome, just let it wear off.

My palms are fine. I did that about 1 1/2 months ago and no residue are on my palms.

may be use the goo gone as the above post recommend.. since the palms arent actually leather

then wash them with soap and water... to be sure there is no residue

other thing to try.. e.g. like gum.. freeze the glove, and then peel off the frozen sticky stuff?

i havent tried either method.. just an idea...

ok well i tried the goo gone then washed them with soap and water they are drying now I will let everyone know how it works out.

UPDATE: I put goo gone on a clean rag rubbed it on the residue then washed the palms with soap and water. Palms are still nice and soft and the goo gone didn't seem to mess them up either.
