Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 You beat me to it Gongshow, looks like a entry to mid level Flexlite, by the patterns on the side and the toe cap. Serious question. How is this a mockup?

DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 Flexlite 14 The lowest of the three flexlite skates in the NBH catalogue. A damn good looking one though.

Ngo_35 1 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 ugh carbon steel. Sharpeners nightmare.
Reaper 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 Isn't carbon steel easier to sharpen than stainless steel? I know that is the case with knives. It doesn't hold its edge as long as stainless steel though.
davis 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 I like those a lot as well. One of the sharper looking lower-level skates I think.Reaper -> I was thinkin the same thing about the carbon. Would carbon be harder on the grinding wheel or anything?
Ngo_35 1 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 We'll low carbon steel "sticks" to the wheel a lot quicker than stainless. So where as you can do 2 pairs of stainless steel skates and still have a relatively clean wheel after 1 pair of low carbon steel the wheel gets dirty so much faster. Especially when Mr. Superstar doesn't dry his skates and all that black dirt/rust builds up on the blade.

It doesn't hold its edge as long as stainless steel though.I don't know that much about sharpening skates, but I thought the same thing. I know machining stainless can be a real pain as it gets gummy as it heats up. I thought sharpening blades would be similar.
Ngo_35 1 Report post Posted October 12, 2007 Sorry forgot to add guys, with many carbon steel blades (kids espcially) there is a crap ass coating on the blades. This chrome coating is to protect against rust but its a pain in the ass for sharpeners. I guess with knives and all that are carbon dont have this garbage on it.
