Which shaft is a better shaft?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I need a litle bit help.

I know it is a old question and very boring.

I read so much heer in forum but it`s bring me not forward.

Which shaft is the better one of this three for Rollerhockey and time to time Icehockey?

1) TPS Redlite XN10 Whip flex or new (R7 response armor XN10).

2) Warrior AK27 85 flex.

3) Easton UltraLite 85 flex.

I`m 5`8 and 167.

I will pair it with an ABS Blade, i think with Koho 2260 Crossover or with RBK 1k.

Sorry for my bad english.

love the ultralite shafts (100 flx), and durability hasnt been an issue with them. they do lose a little stiffness as time goes on, but most shafts do.

That's what she said!

I actually didn't know they produced the UL in 85, but I also swing the 100 and it is a tank.

i love the consistency and durabilty of my AK-27, but some would argue that i've been lucky with it. some others on the site find the durability of the shaft to be either hit or miss.

... but speaking from experience, i'd give the Ak-27 a shot. it plays really well for a standard two-piece shaft.

I have a redlite whip and the new response armour in whip, totally different flex pattern. The armour feels much stiffer than the redlite, more like an Easton 85 than a whip.

I can back that up, XN10 whip felt like a 70 flex, XN10 armor felt like 85 flex.

I've said it in many other topics but I feel that the XN10 sticks offer more kick at a given flex than any other sticks.

what about the R6? is it anything like the first gen xn10 stuff?

I haven't tried the R6 but the R8 isn't as good and I find it hard to believe that the R6 is better.

Another TPS vote here - I've had all three, and would take the Redlight over the UL or AK anyday. Out of the other two, I've found the AK to have the edge in pop, but the Easton trumps it in durability.

I own 4 TPS Redlite XN10 shafts....my fave shaft that I have ever used. Everytime that I find one on ebay or otherwise...I pick it up. Yeah, it could be considered an OCD or something. :)

I think R6 is an old Redlite Control grip.

We have here in Europe R7 and R7 XN10. I would say that`s old redlite and redlite xn10.

I picked up a new R6 shaft about a month ago to compare it to my XN10 Redlites.....no comparison. The Redlites are much better than the R6 shaft. Better pop on shots, better puck feel, and the balance/weight of the shaft is much better with the same blade. I was dissapointed in the new R6 shaft.

i'll go against the grain here and suggest that you not get the RL XN10.

My reasoning is that with a 2260 blade in it, it will be so blade-heavy that it will feel like a sledgehammer. the balance of the combo will not be very good with any of the three shafts you've chosen, but the light weight of the XN10 will only make it worse.

You can alter the balance by cutting the shaft and adding an end plug, but for all that hassle, you might as well go with the slightly heavier, but more easily found easton or warrior.

Of those two, I'd go with the AK-27. Best kick of any standard shaft I've used- it easily rivals a tapered combo.
