How to make stick stiffer but longer?

Recommended Posts

I've found that is does, but not to much. I tend to think that its more the hosel bit for the but-end that makes it stiffer than the butt-end its self.

A longer stick is more flexible than a shorter one every time. Adding a butt end will give the stick more whip.

Even if you cut off part of your shaft, then replace it with an equal amount of plug? I figure the wood would be much stiffer than the shaft portion you replaced it with.

Have you ever flexed a 1x1 piece of unreinforced wood in the length of a hockey stick?

u can make the stick longer but stiffer using a wooden end plug or two... Just shave one end plug so u can insert the whole plug into the shaft. Then just use the second plug to lenghten the shaft.. Now it will be longer and stiffer "ehhh".. But alot heavier also..

haha insert a plug along the entire length of the shaft! And then add a buttend... You could also fill the shaft with concrete.

Seriously though, the top of a hockey stick isn't meant to flex and is ultra stiff. It's all about leverage at this point and you can't have less leverage with a longer stick unless you change the pivot point aka your lower hand(and that wouldn't make for a very natural shooting position).
