Semin Signs Extension and Other Stuff

Just landed in St. Louis and received word that Alexander Semin has signed a two-year contract extension worth $9.2 million.

He'll earn $4.2 million next season and $5 million the folllowing year, for a cap hit of $4.6 million.

Paying for potential. I think Semin has a lot more potential than a guy like Penner.

Don't think it's too bad of a deal for a big goal scorer and only about a million more than Dustin Brown just signed for. I know different types of players but Semin doubles the points Brown produced in a year. Reminds me of a Rick Nash kinda deal after he had his Richard Trophy year...and this deal is cheaper than the one Nash got.

He scored 38 goals last year, and that's still paying for potential. He is a special player.

Thats exactly how I feel about him, and have been defending him (plane to portland incident and all) since his rookie year where he put on a show against the panthers (I had won tickets on the 3rd row for the game, that close up, it was amazing)

I think its alot of cash too but you have to remember that Russian teams could offer him alot also.
