It certainly helps the caps that they get TB and Florida at home the night after they play in Carolina.

And it helps that Washington put a hurting on Carolina to soften them up for TB and FL.

Even Semin looked like Chris Clark out there. :o He had two huge hits in the first period. He needs to play like this game in and game out. He had so much intensity. I wonder if Fedorov is rubbing off on him.... ;)

The league must be doing something right if spots 5-8 in the East are still up in the air in the final week of the season.

1-9 is only a ten point spread, that is amazing.

I'm celebrating the success of both Montreal AND Washington today, by wearing my Huet jeresey!

I have said since October, that if the caps do not face montreal, I will actively root for them in the playoffs. I will only root against them if they are up against the caps.

We were up there for my 30th birthday in October, for the Buffalo game, and I was ready to move there. The people, the city, the hockey buzz, the arena, the game. Everything was unbelievable.

One of the best cities I've ever visited, ever

The 'Canes just refuse to cooperate and the B's received a gift of a point last night. Great week of hockey..........tied for 6th on Thursday, could be out on Saturday. Great stuff.

If the leafs beat the sens tonight, I pray to jebus that the bruins don't go to overtime AGAIN

If the caps win out, and the leafs beat the sens in regulation, then the bruins/sens game ending in regulation would guarantee the caps make the playoffs

I can't imagine how nerve racking this must be for teams.

It would be a lot easier if the Bruins played to win instead of go to OT every game. Never hated a team more.

The pens almost have their own first round partners destiny in their hands.

If the caps win out, that puts them to 94 points. The flyers currently have 91, with 2 games left, one against the pens.

If the pens are still in the #1 spot, they play the flyers sunday, the caps will have their season done saturday night.

So, if the caps have 94 points, and the flyers come into the game with 93, Caps fans will be rooting hard for the pens. Who woulda thunk it.

The pens can pretty much decide who they play.

They can rest up some players and face the flyers if they beat them. Or they can go out, put the icing on the cake with a dominant win over the flyers in the last game (this is what you should do), and the caps get in.

Caps v Pens first round matchup.

How mucking fental would that be!!!!

IT's just crazy at the minute.

The caps do not control their own destiny, they need help to make the playoffs, but still have about 5 ways in.

I put some beer in the fridge last night in anticipation of tonight!!!

With Crosby only coming back a few games ago and just starting to find his game, I don't think the Pens should/would rest him on Sunday. Same goes for Hossa, assuming he is healthy. Only Malkin could benefit from a little extra time off given how much he had to play this season and I think the bigger benefit comes from getting a little team chemistry. They may rest MAF, but even that might be a stretch.

Imagine how I feel...tired of seeing the same shit every game. Glad I'm working for the last two games of the regular season because I have been predicting all along that we will need the last game to make the playoffs and Buffalo will eliminate us...and they are my most hated team. But back on topic sort of, I'm pulling for you guys, want to see OV in the playoffs.

I'm assuming that you didn't watch last night's game. The B's took it to NJ most of the game but some guy, Martin something or other, wouldn't let them win.

That's the god damn problem with the Boston system.

They shouldn't be allowed to win. You take the win god damnit, brodeur or not.

They are obviously capable of winning, otherwise they wouldn't be in the playoff race, but their games are never to win, just to not lose.

Last night they played a team that made that mantra into an artform.

The problem with Boston is that right now Murray couldn't find the back of the net with an atlas and a compass.

O'Rourke isn't going to be getting a playoff job after that call. That was absolutely horrible.

Can somebody who's watching the game right now explain why that wasn't a f**king goal?!?!?!?!?

Caps player pushed the defender who made contact with the goalie. It's either interference for hitting the defender or it's a goal. Waving off the goal is absolutely the wrong call.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. Apparently the refs don't want the Caps to be in the playoffs this year.

it can be no goal, no penalty. It could have been interference but it would have been kind of weak. I think the call was appropriate. You should be allowed to fight in front of the net, but when you fight and the goaltender gets interfered such that it effects his ability to make the save, the goal shouldnt be allowed. Just my 2 cents.

Like I said in the chat, I would have been ok with waving it if the puck went in on the initial shot. Ramo was able to recover long before the puck was put in the net.
