Zamboni before shootouts

The NHL needs to get rid of the Zamboni before the SO. Habs/Leafs tonight....first Carbo complains because there is a strip not done in front on the Habs net...so the Zam comes back out and redoes it.

Then...Maurice thinks there is TOO MUCH "good" ice in the Leaf end and asks them to come back out and re-do the Habs end...

They take the nets off and re-do the whole thing.

Probably a 10 minute delay after a pretty decent OT...way to kill the excitement .

After 65 minutes...if the ice hasn't caused a winner/loser...just eat it...and do the damn shootout.

Habs won btw! :D

I think it's a good idea to bring out the Zamboni but they need to standardize the procedure to be sure it is fair.

I missed the first problem but the driver gave the Habs a pretty big potential advantage the second time.

I think there was a patch in front of the Habs net that hadn't been done (between 2 good passes - if that makes sense). I guess Dandenault pointed it out to Carbo. I suppose it could have led to a rolling puck/fan shot that could fool Price?

The reason for the scrape is to give the shooters good ice to handle the puck on. Pretty weak argument to think bad ice will hurt the goalie's chances.

Nope.

On tsn, they mentioned that Dandenault noticed it and told Carbo and he brought it up to the ref's after the original flood. Then they redid the ice, and then Sundin approached the ref's after Maurice noticed it. They redid it again.

To be honnest this is a complete joke and is more than bad publicity for the game. They are starting to be the laughing stock of the pro league Maurice was laughing his ass of and Carbo was shaking his head. I thought it wasn`t really normal to have that much ice shavings after a 3rd flood. Will they have to bring ice makers from different cities now so that everyone is fair? The ice must look like this at the ACC now when you look from end to end.

Hearing Maurice at the start until they "hit the mute button" on the announcers mic. inbetween benches and then reading them was great. I think Carbo was complaining about the big strip down the middle of the ice that was not scraped in Toronto's end.

Edit: The delay was brutal.. I just caught the end of the game cause I was waiting to watch the Nucks' game, but I think that woulda killed the players and especially the goalies. All the focus you build up in the first ice clean, gone for the second ice clean, then built up again for the second and gone again for the third? I think that'd be very frustrating.

well if they are gonna do that why not just waste more time and run the zamboni over the whole rink its going to need it anyways lol
