Stick wax Vs Surfboard wax

Recommended Posts

I think this was covered a while back but a search of WAX revealed nothing. Is there a major difference between purpose made Hockey stick wax versus surf board wax? I ask because surfboard wax is allot more readily available here then hockey stick wax.

Zog's warm water wax felt the most like their hockey version to me if that's the route you go.

Never tried the warm water, but the cold water worked fine for me.

I just simply scuff my tape with a well used puck.

It's surprising how much black residue will transfer to the tape.

Off topic, I know.

Mr. Zog's is similar to skateboard wax if it helps at all.

personally, i use tealight candles. they work just as good as my $8 mr zogs that i recently ran out of, and you can get them extremely cheap too.

Just a note on surf wax - the Cold Water wax will be softer to provide tack in colder water and the Tropical Wax will be harder to hold up better under hotter conditions.

...and surf wax is typically $1 per bar. $8 per is robbery.

haha...good, I'm not the only one. Although I only use cloth tape for roller. I like friction tape better for ice.

I have used a variety of different surf wax and even used blade butter. There is really no noticeable difference.

$8!!! I can get 4 rolls for the same price. I like the surf wax though because it smells good. :D

The bar of Mr. Zogs Hockey Wax I have is pretty hard and not that tacky, which suggests it's a similar consistency to their warm water wax. For those of you who use cold water wax, does it goop up on you? Because I know when I wax an actual skimboard or surfboard, the cold kinda clumps together whereas I have to apply some pressure on the warm to get a smoother, more even coat.

Jeesh, I'm really missing the bus. In a pinch I used some of the wifes candles. Didn't think it would be a big deal. My blade had a nice "Warm Apple Crisp" scent. Had a good night too.
