Jarick 5 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 MSH is an invaluable resource. I've learned practically everything I know about gear from this place, as well as a great portion about playing the game. There's a learning curve, more so here than most other web forums. Especially equipment. Other things like music, video games, etc, it's personal preference. With equipment, it's mostly about fit. Beyond that, there's so much redundancy. It almost makes you wish you had to read through a bunch of stickies and take a quiz before you can post. That would probably answer 95% of new people's questions. Maybe in a few years...
Chadd 916 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 Biggest problem with this site is that there are too many members trying to be moderators. Let the mods do their job on here. Maybe not the biggest but it is certainly in the top five.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 Call it a learning experience. If someone starts a stupid topic or asks a stupid question and ends-up getting blasted, he/she might think twice before further displaying their idiocy or asking a question before first searching for the answer.Agreed. I've been a member on boards a LOT worse than this one when it comes to "blasting" people. Go post on the GSBB(goalie version of MSH, non-affiliated) most of the moderators and probably about 20 post-ers will blast you for not searching.
wullymc 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 I think that if anyone should ask a question it should be well thought out. I don't think this gives free rain on anyone to blast anyone but thinking and searching should be a prerequesite before posting. Also, if you ask a question saying Thanks! is always helpful and hopefully you will be less likely of a target.
Race4LastPlace 31 Report post Posted December 12, 2007 Ive only been around the game for about a year now, so i'm still learning about equipment and things as i use this site everyday. I've had a ton of questions but almost always seem to find an answer relatively quickly, effectively negating my need to post. The search button has done wondrs in my life... Oh and mack you crack me up, thanks for the new sig

sweetblazer 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2007 I am over the opinion that if you are going to ask a question look a little yourself. I've been here for 3.5 years now and when I started out you go to the Ice Hockey Equipment section and life is amazing. Insightful threads, product knowledge everything. Now its like I have to look through 18 "Is this a good skate" thread. I understand the point of view that you should be accepting. But think about it in a highschool sense. Were you friends with the kids who bugged you? As far as the line of arrogance, rustpot, I have no problem with chirps. In fact I hate people who don't chirp lol. Its how you do it. It's one thing to say "go search" its another to say something like " wait for those of us with balls to get ours". I take this as arrogance because the fact that he can't "have balls" may be because he is less financially secure than you and can't afford to take a chance. Thats all. Rustpot 1 Report post Posted December 12, 2007 Meh, I didn't take offense to it, so no problem. It was just kind of rediculous to see the question about shaft shape like that.I'm not exactly rolling in dough, but I saw a deal and I gambled. I could have easily waited for the 5 or 6 members to post how it went, but the want for a whippy senior shaft and a bargain price overrode all of those "you don't have the money" "you probably won't like it" thoughts. I've stayed away from that thread, as people are just continuously asking for updates and more information, or sharing absolutely pointless comments. "I want to hear what people get, I'm thinking about a 95flex""Does anyone know the difference between the 120 Fuel shaft and standard?"Just like how in the S17 contest thread 3 of those pages are members saying what stick they selected if they win. WTF good is that, not even a "I hope I win, this is so cool! BTW I selected a LH Purple Jr. Iginla!"All said though, this is one of the best forums I've been on. If you need real information there are plenty of people to answer your question, if you want to chat about anything hockey related people are up for it. The off-topic section is used correctly and most topics, albeit a little messy with people saying "I know this topic is about the S17, but what does the 9kO cost in your shops?" are pretty packed with information.
