Mission Fuel 90 AG

I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with these. If you could give me some feedback on the fit compared to CCM as well as durability, performance and comfort.

I've worn tacks but not vectors. Went from those to some vapors and at first it took some getting used to because the overall boot is bigger, but after two skates I'm back to where I was. Although I must say I'm alot quicker on the vapors than I was with the missions.

ive got a pair. Good skates, would be better if they are stiffer.. 3 way pitch adjustment is a cool feature. Not fantastic durability.. ive used mine for a year (10 months) of 1 night a week of beer league and no big problems, just the usual scuffs etc.

IMO if you a big fella (over 190lb) id try sometihng stiffer.. if you like that though..

i have been wanting a stiffer version of the AG- we will have this year in the AGX. funny thing is that i talk to other Mission Reps from all over and some say they would like the AG to be softer. i think the AG is a pretty soft boot. close to the foot fit and shapes to YOUR foot very quickly. i have a very average foot and the AG fits my foot perfect. some guys that have a wider heel will fit better into the AGX since it has a wider heel pocket.

They will fit narrower than the Vectors - a E Vector will be a EE in the Missions. I would say the ankle will fit about the same width, but the Mission will bow forward a little above the heel cup, as opposed to the Vector, which pretty much comes straight up. I had Vector 6.0's and Mission 95AG. The durability with the Vectors was not as good, IMHO, but they were initially a stiffer boot. The AG's are made to fit softer, as everyone has already pointed out - I hated them, but am a 6'3, 230lb power forward, and I got rid of them right away, so I can't comment on durability. Lighter, more agile skaters would appreciate that type boot. I also think the Vectors had a slighter higher arch, if my memory serves.

I have had S400's for the past year and a half. I love these skates, but, must admit the durability was a little disappointing. i would have liked to have used them for at least 2 years, but, I think I may need to replace them before the end of this season.

Is the AG90 the newer version of this skate? Can anyone compare the durability on the AG's and the Sseries?

I'm a pretty big guy and maybe i should have bought thes500's, but the price difference was enough to sway me and I really like the s400. Best skate I've had since my Micron Mega days.

A stiffer ankle is contrary to the supplefit concept as I understand it.

I'm in the same weight class and love the supplefit/AG style. As everyone who attended the MSH skate can attest, I'm not exactly the most nimble guy on the ice either.

The biggest problem with the 400/500 is the material at the top of the ankle and it's lack of strength. Most shoe repair shops can add a strip of leather around the back for $10-$20 a skate and that will add a lot of life to the boot. I'm just going to order another pair of 500s from Peranis as they still have my size and you can get them for $269. They still have a bunch of 400s as well.

Speaking of Fuels and S-series,

I came across a used pair of Mission Fly Lights in a store a couple weeks ago. Seemed VERY soft. Is this a low end skate?

Thanks. Maybe I'll have to swing by again and have another look at them.

Right- however the AGX is a HYBRID of the two skates- AG and XP. Supplefit in part is the more intricate and detailed fit of the ankle rather than just making a rectangular box filled with foams and different stiffener packages. its possible to have supplefit with stiffer lateral support.

It just doesn't make sense to me, especially at the retail level. I never had a customer who wanted the S (or AG) skates but stiffer. Either they like the supplefit or they want something taller and stiffer. The only way the hybrid would make sense to me is if the XP disappeared. At that point you have two supplefit skate series with varying amounts of stiffness. As I told my rep when the L series came out, customers never said I want a mission vapor. Do your own thing and do it because you believe in it. Otherwise, you better be lighter than everyone else because that's the only other thing that's selling right now.

VERY TRUE! I totally agree. the way i see it- supplefit is our birthright. Mission started it with the original Pure Flys. continued work on this style of fit will lead to some variations- like the AGX. this skate has been tested with our core of Junior players- guys who were either in an AG or an XP- all the players that preferred one style or the other and all were pleased with the HYBRID.

Hopefully those aren't the same testers that loved the 110 AGs.
