Recommended Posts

except i really like kelly hrudey but he's not in-game.

You had me up until that point.

Your not a fan of him? I like watching Behind The Mask, i think it's interesting. But agreed to "Mcguire is a piece of shit"

Two things I'd love to see beyond the mics:

1) Above ice cams in every arena, like those floating cams they use for football. Imagine the camera tracking a player from above and behind on a breakaway?

2) Helmet cams w/ audio. It's got to be viable technologically. Do it as a ppv. Seeing a feed from the player perspective? Yes, it would be choppy as hell, but I'd love to see it regardless.

Fleury once had a cam on his mask.

I believe they also field tested a ref cam during the season prior to the lockout. Or I could be losing my mind. One of the two.

That would be awesome. I love in the NFL when they do that, but in my opinion they don't do it enough. That would be so cool to have like a track above the rink that a camera could slide on and forexample on PP it could follow up the breakout and then stay up at the point and watch the set up.

That was the idea behind the railcam on vs... Nice idea but hockey is too fast for something like that.

ya i guess so, but i don't mean every play. it would just be nice to see something different other than the standard side view.

That thing drove me nuts. Nice view but seeing it scoot across the screen in the normal view was very distracting.

I liked the camera angle NBC had last season for power plays. Camera up high behind the net really showed how plays developed. Very useful to me as a player/coach.

thats one of the reasons that i want it like that, because it would help me visualise what to do in certain situations better than viewing it in side view

one of those over ice football cameras would suck. just because its the last thing i want obstructing my view when i attend a game.

You'll have that and the camera that runs along the top of the boards too. You aren't going to be able to see shit if you're actually in the stadium.

Our local mens league put cameras on one team and on the refs for a game. I will see if I can find the link if you want.....

Actually, I'd love to see the results. I teach, and I've talked the principal at my school into buying a helmet cam. I'd like to see whether I'd be wanting to sneak it off to hockey night or not.

ya that's true, i just meant from a tv viewing standpoint it would be neat. also along the same lines, does anyone know why NHL rinks dont use 360replays above the nets like they do in the Keystone center for the Wheatkings. I'm assuming it's because it would get in the way because of higher seating in NHL barns but it's kindof cool

most people have no idea the back and forth (both good and bad) between the refs and players at the pro level...no one knows more insults than a good ref...

Ya know what would be neat...no play by play...just the natural sound of the game. Maybe broadcasters to do the replays...but during live action...only the sounds on the ice surface.

HDNet does this with their broadcasts for a few minutes. It's pretty sweet.
