What is hockeymonkey's deal?

Recommended Posts

I figured I'd share my HM story-

Well back when the SyNergy Elite was released I ordered one the first day they had it on the website. I waited about 2 weeks, when it was supposed to be about 1 week for shipping, so I figured I'd call and see what was up. The lady told me they never sent it out, because the credit card didn't work. So I told her it was fine, and she could cancel the order, and I figured I could just go to my LHS and buy it because it was probably in-stock by then. So that day I went to the LHS and picked it up, and 2 days later, WILL YOU LOOK WHAT SHOWED UP AT MY DOOR! A SyNergy Elite from HM!!!! I wasn't that pissed until I called them back almost immediately, and found out that they don't accept refunds on hockey sticks. Never ordering from them again!

we were both looking for a large 8500 cage and that was the only place we could find one. They told us both they didnt have them in stock and weren't very kind about it. But we could wait a couple months and they'd ship it to us when they could.

I finally found one from the douchebags are total hockey.

My issue with OH is they never alerted us that our cages were on backorder. Simple business practice to keep your customer informed and those guys dropped the smart hockey ball.

Well here's my update:

They just called me and told me they didn't have the 4 roll glove in stock anymore, so i had to go with supreme 70's. I'm kinda mad, but they did their best to correct the situation.

I called because I haven't received anything about my replacement shafts and was told they're "still waiting to hear back from UPS - probably Monday at the earliest." I'm about to call my bank and have them handle this because it's getting ridiculous now. Serves me for dealing with Hockey Monkey even for a deal.

You might try Hockey World if they have what you want next time. I live in Indiana and when I order from them I almost always get my stuff the next day UPS ground. Now thats service......

That's weird, I never got a call back or a call from UPS but I got a shipping notification.

For your replacements? I'm thinking they're just trying to screw UPS because there weren't noticeable signs of someone tampering with my box, but it was stuffed with a looooot of wrapping paper. After I spoke with them and saw a UPS guy come to my door I thought "great, that was fast." No, he was sent to pick-up the box that had been picked up with the rest of the garbage. I'm getting lambroasted by UPS and HM on this one.

i ordered some pro stock shafts from HM and they ran out and called me within 3 days after my order to let me know. after i picked an alternative flex, they overnighted it to me. i guess i got lucky, but they seemed pretty cool.

I work a couple miles from their warehouse and was able to sweet talk a young lady there into letting me pick up my order there during my lunch break.

I placed my order for 2 pro stock Dolo shafts on Xmas eve, but I didn't get any order confirmation from HM so I gave them a call last Friday. Turns out the shafts I ordered (400 flex nipple grip) are sold out, so I got the 400 flex clear instead. They overnighted it to me but I didn't get it until yesterday, I assume because of New Years.

I have to add to the negative HockeyMonkey.com press. I've ordered once from them and it was a negative experience. I ordered a pair of pants in a size too large and they really were a pain about letting me return them. Some of their policies are from the dark ages of internet retailing (a la restocking fees, no returns on clearance items). That sort of stuff is just annoying and I can't believe some of you have considered shopping with them after some of these stories!

I personally use IceWarehouse.com, they just straight out rock. I get stuff in under two days, shipping is always free, customer service extremely timely and flexible, the stock of an item is always updated on their site, etc. Their selection however needs to be expanded, hockeymonkey certainly has more. I usually wait till IceWarehouse has what I need in stock. Hockeymonkey isn't worth the hassle.

All right, still no damn replacement shafts and HM was to have spoken with UPS on Monday so I called back this afternoon. After getting bounced around, I finally got someone very helpful and she explained to me that all this lies with UPS now. I want to say it's a "UPS f-d up" thing but HM's explanation doesn't make sense either.

The lady tells me that UPS is holding off on the claim because I "refused to hand over the shipping box." On my little slip inside the box, it never said anything about keeping the box. I'm also very much not retarded so I looked for obvious signs of tampering and there weren't any, so it went out with post-Christmas junk. I explained this to the first HM rep I spoke to, their claim lady and to the UPS driver who came out AFTER I had already said there was no box. His reaction "No problem, the claim's already submitted and this won't matter."

I was then told that the sticks "all show that they were scanned, which means they were delivered." Now I do know that none of my sticks had any kind of a barcode, so I'm not sure what they mean they scanned. Pretty much thinking I'm screwed by both of these places so I think it's time that BoA gets to handle this fight for me. Not even a refund helps me at this point as it would mean I have to fork over another ransom for shipping. Goddamn HM.

I still haven't gotten mine either, coming up 2 weeks since they shipped. They are getting shipped through usps, I'm not sure who deals with that in Canada, probably Canada Post?

That'd be my guess. My brother had gloves shipped from ONT with USPS and the customs office here had them for about a month.

In my experience, when shipped via USPS => Canada post, it takes 2-4 weeks to get there, sometimes longer. Shipping USPS to the UK is faster than to Canada.
