Do most NHLers use "their" curve?

Recommended Posts

some GI Sykora blades I saw from Sher-Wood had the square toe like a Shanny but were much longer and taller, it was the tallest blade I've ever seen, like a bit 2x4 , this was a couple years ago 03/04 season...

I've never understood why some guys hack off a few inches of shaft only to insert a wood plug. I know it would help with balance in some cases, but I thought the Stealths were pretty well balanced. The other thing might be where they shave the handle down some, but I don't seem to recall Sykora doing that...

Datsyuk does that to his 9kO...that huge tape job is all butt end.

Last few times I was in Hockeytown Auth. the end of his sticks were open, no plug. I think they corrected the balance issue for him as the couple I picked up at my LHS didn't feel like they'd be too bad after a pro got to tweak them.

Sykora, at least back in the early Synergy days when he was on the Devils, had a big fugly curve. It started at the hell and kept going. It looked like a J.

I sure know of a few players who love the feel of a "butt plug"

Think that's just Chris Neil.

But yeah, some like the feel of having a wood plug in the end. I find that some combos feel better with a certain type of plug. I think it might be ash.

If you go to the Caps website and click on "2" you can watch Brooks laich talk about his sticks. Sorry, I can't figure out how to link it.

Really cool video. Says he accidentally ordered Drury Synergies instead of Sakics and fell in love with the pattern, watched the segment again and either Drury has changed or my eyes lie to me because I saw a big mid like what he was describing.

He likes Warrior because Al Iafrate told him to use one and he likes the color :P . Showcases what we were saying about the death of truly custom patterns though.

Edit:

Screen capture- Looks too deep for a Drury, no?
