Breakin in new gloves?

Recommended Posts

I would like to know any tips to breaking in new gloves.

I use to wear Bauer supreme 3000 gloves that were broken in perfect but now are RIP with holes. My girlfriend bought me NB Pro 4cuff roll gloves for xmas and I can't seem to get them broken in just right. I may just not be used to it, but it is driving me nuts.

any tips?

Where them while watching tv or just lounging around the house. Sweating in them will help break in the leather. Also just stick handle and shot at your house.

all you can do is play in them, and when you're not playing, try and work the fingers around and bend them in all different ways, work the palm, etc.

my 4-rolls felt good right out of the box FWIW

Put a 10 lb. weight on them over night, next morning/day use them. This has worked for me in the past. I always wondered if "steaming" them in a hot would work, but the weights definitely work.

At the beginning of the season Mission supplied my inline team with a pair of Fuel 90 gloves each.

To break them in I sprinkled the palms with water and then stuffed the inside of the gloves with news paper. It really loosened everything up for me.

This might help you, but in the end if they don't feel right then you might have to modify them a bit. I cut out some sections of the padding inside my gloves to give me more movement.

put em on and do knuckle push-ups.

Agreed. Throw them on during a game, stretch them during the game, and then bust out knuckle pushups at every commercial break. They are broken in by the end of the game (doing it right now on my new X72's).

I just got some X72s, trying to decide when to start breaking them in. My CP94s are so damn comfy I hate to start all over again.

They softened up pretty nicely tonight during the course of the Rangers v Pens game. Tomorrow I will be in them for 2 hours of coaching, and then make a game time decision on whether to use them or my current custom (VN-80 with no plastic inserts) MB-33's.

I'm going to buy a pair of new gloves soon and i have already tryed most of them on. The one90's felt really nice but, the 4-rolls seemed bulky and exposing to the wrist. I want to take a bite and buy a pair of 4-rolls for the price but, will it really nice after its broken in or get use to it?

My 4-rolls felt comfier than my mom's muff right from the store. Rock them a few times at hockey and they should be golden within 6 uses.

Your mom's muff? Wtf is your definition of a woman's muff guy?

They're great gloves and very protective, just make sure you try them on before buying so you can get the correct length. I rocked 15s before this and went down to 14s for the 4-rolls. They may feel a bit top-heavy and it seems like there's a pillow on top of your hands, but you get used to it and like all good gear, don't even notice them while playing.

The "mom's muff" comment was actually in tribute to a fantastic line I heard back in hockey camp when I was a youngster. Some kid tried on a goalie's glove and yells, "Woah, this is more comfy than my mom's pu$$y!" and the entire room was in shock and awe. This was in the early 90s before that type of humor took off.

Great info about the knuckle push-ups and weight on the back roll of the gloves. I was thinking more of a 25lbs. plate than a 10. By chance do you do this knuckles in a fist or fingers open?

Great laugh about the Muff. Maybe Warrior will use that as the tagline to the new MIA gloves: Fit is tighter and more comfy than your moms muff.

I have never owned a pair of gloves I felt needed to be broken in. Same goes for my Pro 4 Rolls. I felt they were very comfortable from the get go.

If you think the Pro 4 Rolls are exposed at the wrist don't even look at the Vapor XXXs.

Rock this, muff that...something is seriously wrong with society these days!

i just got my muffs.. i mean 4rolls and tried using my regualr stick with a thin butt end and didnt work out.

I switched to no butt end and it worked out great.

Then i used my vapors with the no buttend and couldnt use it... then tried WITH the buttend and was fine.

I was like WTF...???!! different gloves For me... are more comforable then others with different sticks. I don't know why and it does suck.
