From rbk 9k to easton S15

Recommended Posts

Ok i skated for the 2 nd time in my new S15 tonight and i had those prob.

1-I was having trouble keeping my balance.

2-I had trouble getting my skate to grip when breaking (i had to push way harder on my skates to brake)

3-I was having pain between my 2nd to 5 th eyelet on my left skate.

The difference i had on both skate...The 9k had the grey superfeet and i did not put them yet in my s15 (because i baked them without them not sure if its recommended cause of the high it will get if i put them in.And i had LS2 Holder on my 9K and i am not sure if its the same pitch on the easton Holder.

So many question i am not sure.I was looking like a ice capade yesterday.Even with my tradional 3/8 hollow i was not griping on the ice.

Any answer or idea will be welcome.

One thing comes to my mind.....you ordered it with the "pro-package" for stiffness. It may just be that your stance is currently more upright when compared to your broken in 9K's. Give it a bit of time and see what happens. With new skates, I usually wear them sitting on the couch, and will routinely stand up and do forward flexions until either my ankles or quads explode to aid in softening up the skates and allowing them to flex better before I get on the ice.

The S15 has a heel lift, and you can just rip that sucker right off. Also, I went from the 1500 to an S15, and the 1500 had the Easton holder. I put the LS2's on my S15's right away, and I found that I had horrible balance, and that I had to actually think about how I was skating instead of just, well...skating, lol. So maybe that could be part of it, going to a different holder.

I had similar issues with balance when I first skated in mine but adjusted very quickly. I did however bake my skates with the Superfeef insoles in as well as the heel lift that comes with the skate. I also had the LS2's put on as well.

Funny you brought up the weight disttubution when stopping. I hadent thought of it until just now but YES I do have to apply more pressure now when stopping than in the past. My thought is due to the weight of the skate compared to my Grafs in the past as well as the (Coil Tech.)

Yes atm i have put the supeerfeet in and removed the easton insole. Its better from walking around.

Just out of curiosity i was trying to see if the holder might be the 1 st thing that is off.Anyone know the difference between the pitch on ls2 combine with rbk(K boot compared to the s15 and the easton RB2 holder.

I am really leaning toward that prob.

Pitch of the holders are both pretty much neutral.

RBKs have a forward-pitched boot. I believe the Easton boot is neutral pitched, but the heel lift puts you a bit more on your toes.

I'm not sure what the blade radius is on the easton vs. LS2 holders, but that may be a factor as well.

Oh, the joy of custom skates- problems! Not that they cannot be corrected but so often do I hear that my custom skates aren't "right." I talked a guy out of custom skates this morning just to avoid the problems that can or may occur. I am sure you will be able to get your problems solved but it is frustrating.

I am really thinking going the ls2 way.And i think its the tongue the other prob i am geting on top of my feet between the 2nd to 5 th eyelid. So while watching the Habs yesterday i keep the lace looser between those then i make them tighter till the top.And i also keep the last hole undone at the top.

SO

1-Insole changed to my superfeet

2-Will put my blue ls2 just to see if it help before buying new one (yea yea white one on my S15 if it works)

3-Keeping the lace looser between the 2nd to 5th hole and it seem better but i will need to see in game.

Just buy her something too. That will take her mind off of it.
