Post Game Beer

Recommended Posts

coors light is 4.2% alcohol content. same as bud light, miller light, and michelob light. and the regular versions are all 5%

Well I can tell you that Coors Light is 4% in Canada.

does it say that on the bottle or what? of coors, i'm not doubting you...

Yes. I live in a Dorm and the fridge is right beside me, I'm holding a Coors light in my hand its 4%.

as acollette49 mentioned, it's probably the difference in measuring systems. alcohol by weight, vs alcohol by volume. either way, beer is obviously personal preference so if you like it great, if not, there's plenty more out there :]

Steelback...

not.

I know a guy who LIKES beer...I mean really L-I-K-E-S beer. Steelback was the only beer he said he had ever dumped.

What is the most refreshing post game beer??

Either Yuengling or Carolina Pale Ale.

Does it really matter or is just the fact that there is just beer there to drink

The colder, the better. Although, I've never wanted to pound down a stout after a game.

Anyone else not like the weird aftertaste of an IPA?

Agreed. I either love a smooth pilsner, or the new Alt Bier at my local brewery. Deep amber with a malt finsih. Flippin fantastic. I had a growler (1/2 gallon glass container) of it last night after my game. :) Before a hour drive home. :(

the perceived difference in alcohol content in american and canadian beers is based on 2 measuring systems. american beer is measured in alcohol by volume (abv), while canadian beer is measured in alcohol by weight (abw).

So basically same amount of Alcohol, just different measurings make it look different.

Thanks Again

I have never been a fan of IPA, or wheat beers. There are a few ales I like, but I am pretty much a lager guy.

What kind of aftertaste? And what IPA do you normally drink. They range so widely in taste that it may just be the couple you are drinking.

Never did find out why theres such a huge fascination with Blue Moon. Even did the add an orange thing, and its still nothing special.

It's a wheat beer, probably the biggest wheat beer in the US. I like it because it's a very crisp and light beer, good for cold days, but can't drink more than two or three.

Hook, I hear you on the IPA. Something's just a bit off with most of them that I've had. But the Summitt EPA is a local favorite, on tap pretty much anywhere, and that beer seems to have gotten it right.

i shouldnt have been so flippant with my first response to the ipa question.

smoke is right, there are a great many tastes that hops can impart on a beer. the most frequent in an american ipa would be citrus or pine. you can also find mint or even tea, depending on the hop.

i happen to hate the taste of amarillo hops...to me they taste like crushed aspirin. i know who uses them and i stay far away...

probably sound like an idiot asking this but what is an IPA

India Pale Ale

Like Rickards

Rickards red is an amber ale, and it's produced by molson. It's a more toned down style to garner more commercial appeal.

IPA is as someone mentioned an India Pale Ale. They are generally heavily hopped (which helped preserve them in the barrels on the boats from England to India, hence the name)

I love chinook, cascade, east kent golding and target hops (I brew my own) for the cleaner spicy/citrus taste.

acollette49, if you can find it wherever you are, try getting some dogfish head 90 minute ipa. I love it. They have a brewpub 5 minutes from my house, great stuff

Mmmmmmm... Dogfish. I was going to tell you to try Redhook (acollette49), but imho Dogfish is better. Also try the 60 minute, as it's a little less hoppy for those who arent used to an IPA.

its unfortunate that dogfish and stone both use ungodly amounts of amarillo...i havent had the 60 or 90 in quite some time but from what i remember, the 90 was very inconsistent from batch to batch. and the 120 minute is pretty much a waste of time. but thats just me...

these are ipas that i do like (in no order);

bear republic racer 5

smuttynose finest kind

founders centennial

bells two hearted

madhatter

russian river's pliny the elder

three floyds dreadnaught

and so on...

u guys ever play drunk? lol

I've played drunk a few times. I had a game after a Xmas party and I had been drinking wine and coronas all night. Luckily, no one from my team showed and we forfeited so the game just turned into an open scrimmage. I didn't fare very well but I was having a good time.

The other time was the last game of the regular season and we were playing a team that hadn't won a game all season and we hadn't lost a game all season so we all started drinking before and continued right on through the game and well after. I don't recall if we won. But I do recall being very dehydrated and trying to replinish with more beer and uhh.. that didnt' work very well.

We used to drink a few cases after every game and in the summer we'd break out the bbq's. We'd usually try and catch last call at a nearby bar as well. Good times.

A couple of my teammates were pretty much drunk for every game for years.
