Saint George

Nike Bauer P72 Pattern

Recommended Posts

(I looked at the pattern DB and performed a search and found nothing, so here goes.)

I am looking for a stick with a similar pattern to the Easton Lindstrom with a lower lie (so I can use a longer stick) Specifically, I am looking for heel curve open face. I am not so hung up on the shape of the toe - the Lindstrom has a square toe, but I am fine with a round toe too.

According to the NikeBauer website, the "P72 Kessel" curve fits the bill - heel curve, open wedge face, lie 5. To get my hands on one, though, it looks like I will have to custom order from NikeBauer, and before I do that, I was hoping to get some confirmation that the description on the NikeBauer website is accurate (I noticed a few of the descriptions in the pattern DB were different than what was on the NikeBauer website).

So, has anyone out there seen/used a P72 curve? If you have, and you could take a minute to comment, I would be greatful.

Last I checked, Eastwesthockey was still selling three packs of blades on their site. Check it out.

The man's looking for a wedge though, which actually is going to be hard to find outside of a P91/Drury. The 106 has more of a slope than the 02 or 72 would though.

I have both the P91/Drury and the P72 (from E/W Hockey), and I would say that the patterns are very similar other than the distinct lie difference. If you're looking for a 5 lie Lidsrom, with a roundish toe, the P72 is a pretty good candidate.

The P106 is very different: more rocker, more curve, less wedge.

The only downside is that the P72 is nowhere near as deep as the Lidstrom.

If you are near a store with an NBH ID kiosk ( I believe their website has a list), the display has sample blades in all the patterns. You could check out the curve yourself in person.

Hell, nothing out there is as deep as that monster.

I saw the Nike ID kiosk today and compared the P02 and P72. Chad has it, the P72 is not as deep, but, as Lidstrom user myself, I think this might be what St. George is looking for. I was tempted to sign up just to get that pattern.

Too bad you can't just order the blades by themselves.

Ask your local TPS dealer for some blades in the P31 pattern, it's the same curve. I've been using the tapered P31s for a couple years now.

There's no Nike ID kiosk that I can find around here (Seattle), so thanks for checking it out. I will give one a whirl and see how she goes.

Just to finish this up in case anyone else is ever asking the same question, I purchase a One90 from www.nikebauerid.com, and the P72 is pretty close to the Lindstrom. It is a tiny bit less dramatic, but nothing I could actually notice in play, and it seems to be a true 5 lie. Overall, I am very happy with the stick.

Couple of asides - for a beer-league guy like me, being able to choose from 15 patterns and 3 flexes is great. I am now a big fan of the www.nikebauerid.com program. Additionally, I purchased a 77 flex, and it has helped my shots considerably (I had been using an 85 flex Easton cut a bit). Although I am 6' and 185 lbs., I am not as young as I once was, and I the softer flex has translated into harder shots (wrist and slapshots).

Again, thanks to everyone that helped out.
