Tuuk LS2

Recommended Posts

I'm about to get new skates as my Synergy 500s have given up the ghost. I'm looking at Grafs b/c I've heard great things. However, it seems like everybody on MSH is putting LS2s on every skate they get. So what's the deal? I've never used 'em but should I be planning on having the Cobras switched out ASAP??? Also, how much does it cost to have my LHS do this?

Yea. . . I'd definitaly skate on the grafs for a few weeks before getting the LS2's put on. The aggressive forward pitch of the cobra holders may take a little getting used to, but you may like it a lot more.

Just give it time. If you don't like it, look into changing. I'd give the Pitch holder a look though, as they are great.

I've still got cobra holders on my 707's. I don't think there is anything wrong with them, but the steal does suck balls, Pitch steal is amazing!

The Cobras really aren't that hard to get used to. The only reason I switched from them is because I wanted to give T blades a whirl. If they don't work out for me, I'll probably have the Cobras reinstalled rather than LS2 because I got used to them rather quickly.

Best steel is the ICM steel I believe. But Cobras are pretty gay to be honest. I hate them. Any Tuuk is pretty good, and Pitch's are great from what I hear.

The LS2 steel is suspect at best. PITCH steel is the best I've ever skated on.

Ive heard nothing but the best about the pitch. Is there anyhting you dislike about them or are they really that perfect?

I didn't know holders have sexual preferences.

PITCH=mission correct??? How hard is the install between these types? I've got pretty incredible skate techs so it shouldn't be a prob. I just wanna know what I can look at spending to switch out. BTW the help on this site is amazing. So glad i found this place.

A couple observation from my own experience.

LS2 steel is more 'grainy' than the Mission steel and will also rust (Yes, I dry my skates). I've read here that the Mission steel is harder and holds an edge better, plus you can adjust the pitch to your preference.

I've also been advised to be prepared to replace the LS2 steel in my Vapors as they're prone to breakage.

i've broken steel on two consecutive pairs of vapors with the LS2 steel, but for some reason, i keep going back...

tried switching to LS2s, LS2Power, and i've given all other major holders a shot at one time or other through various demos. but personally, i'd have to say my favourite holder out there is the CCM E-Pro... i know i'm one of the few, but not the only one.

LS2 is probably the stiffest holder on the market.

Custom+ is probably the softest.

PITCH is inbetween(and to answer sitzlejd's question, you wont have to drill new holes if you're coming from custom+ or Razor. Just widen the holes).

E-Pro is a little more stiff than Pitch. BTW it has a 10' Radius, possibly making "aarondevera" feel more stable on the ice.

Cobra is probably inbetween EPro and LS2 in stiffness, but has a severe forward lean and older(as in not BRAND NEW) steel has durability issues.

Parabolic or scalloped runners always flex, and always have a tendency to break more often than regular runners.

The original Vapor 8/10 steel was the only thing I've used that was in the same ballpark.

Am I right in thinking that the Cobra 5000s are *slightly* less stiff off the shelf than the 3000s, but that the polyamide in the 5000s doesn't absorb water and go soft over time?

Same suspect steel; I've heard the new titanium bolts for the runners strip like a three-dollar hooker.

Three-dollars.....looks I've been getting ripped off.

When I got my new 10s, I took the TUUKs off in favor of the Mission holders. Haven't regretted it.

Negative ghostrider, LS2 steel and holders not only look the best, but perform just as well. I cant bomb on the pitch, as Ive never used them, but Ive. used everything else, including t'blade, and Ls2 has them beat by miles.

LS steel accounts for over half the runner replacements due to them cracking/splitting at the LHS I frequent...I ask these things.

LS come on far more than half of the skates sold to high level players in any given area.

ICM, baby. Everything got it, even if the LHS looked like they were digging up the corpse of Mother Teresa when I had them put ICMs on my One90s.
