Broke my one90 Stick tonight...

Recommended Posts

i would say send it in. NB is very laid back with their warranties it seems.

That's not the point. We've already agreed that he probably could get a replacement. As a shop employee though you disappoint me with comments like that. It'll be very hard to earn some respect around here with that attitude.

I'm a 19 year old college student who can't afford to pay for tons of OPS. I will abuse the system like many people abuse the music system and DVD movies with piracy and p2p downloading. If Nike Bauer sends me a replacement, I saved $180 and that's more money in my pocket.

thats absurd that they sued for that much, yet has nothing to do with the warranties of sticks.

You assume that because everyone abuses "the system" that you're safe or ok from legal action. Moreover, as a pro-shop employee, it's morally wrong. Even if you avoid it, in the long run, you're only hurting yourself. Sticks companies continue to have to charge higher prices because people are abusing the system.

I don't know if anyone knows, but does anyone know the amount of real, legitiment warranties vs. fraud returns? I'd be curious to know the numbers, or even how much the companies have spent just on warranty.

if NB gives the kid a stick return without a receipt who's fault is that? That's what were talking about aren't we?

We could on forever about this, so i'll just stop here. If you wish to talk to me about it, pm me. I don't want to clog up the board.

No that's not what we are talking about. Just because you break a stick within 30 days and have the receipt doesn't entitle you to a replacement. HOW you broke the stick is the deciding factor.

I too am going to let this go. I have clearly expressed my point and you have proven yourself to be a complete tool that has no care for anything other than yourself. Myself or anyone else on this board will get absolutely nowhere with you. You are the way you are. Nothing's gonna change that until you grow up and see the big picture.

One more reason they should do away with warranties. No way to abuse them. They do it for woodies and blades anyway.

when I'm wealthy enough to just throw 180 dollars away I will, but for now I'll take my free sticks

actually on a serious note, a friend of mine just bought a $200 TPS nash with a whip flex and he was unsure of the purchase, the guy at our local store simply put it this way "you can't return the stick once you've used it so if you don't like the flex just break it on purpose and send the stick back and get another one"

this is also someone we don't know on a personal level, so he probably drops that line of every kid who comes in the store

When we sell an Easton or NBH OPS,remove and place the warranty serial # sticker on the customer's receipt, clearly and carefully explain the 30 day consumer direct replacement warranty with that exact receipt, the customer knows what the deal is. They know the gravy train just ended. This process has stopped a lot of the bs that used to happen.

The idea of dropping a warranty has validity but that horse has already left the barn. The only way you would ever try a Synergy stick at $150 eight years ago was if it came with a warranty. Once that factor helped to sell the OPS, there was no going back.

When you can't afford to throw away $180 on a stick then you shouldn't be buying them. You are getting caught up in the hype and forcing yourself to live outside your means. Go back to using a wood stick.

Related question:

I bought a Bauer vapor 30 lite from hockey monkey a couple weeks ago for $99. I used it for the first time at drop-in on Saturday night and it got hit square on with a slap shot and broke (what an absolute piece of shit - I've never had a stick break because it was hit by a shot).

Anyways, I am DEFINITELY sending it back but am wondering if I should cut it in half in order to ship it. The email from NBH with the return # says it's ok to do so, I'm just wonder if thats what people normally do to save on shipping?

Also, wondering if where I bought it makes any difference to them? I live in Canada and buy things online and have them shipped to a border town in Washington State to save money. US retailers aren't allowed to ship NBH stuff to Canada apparently (because Bauer gouges Canadian distributors/retailers I guess?), so I had it shipped to WA and drove down and picked it up - will Bauer try to screw me cause I bought it in the States? I know legally they can't, but will they try?

Thanks

I emailed Nike Bauer and talked to them. They had me send it back, and I got a brand new stick. Good guys I must say. They got it last friday from me, and I got the stick today, thats pretty fast.

Jeff, the O.P.
