supreme vs vapor

Recommended Posts

What is the actual difference between the supreme line and the vapor line? I am torn between the two. I was going to go one75 or vapor xxv but im unsure of what the big difference is. Any shedding of light is appreciated. sorry if this question is like a broken record to some. I wear a D in my eastons now should i bother getting EE also.

thanks guys.

how do i tell what skate i need to meet my accomedations ?

Try them on and see which one feels better. I had a pair of Supreme ONE90 for about a week and they didn't work out for me because the boot was too stiff. The heel on the ONE90 was also too narrow for my foot. I now skate in a pair of NBH Vapor XXII and I can flex and fit the boot fine.

from what I hear the new Supreme last, is slightly wider than the old supreme last ( Like Supreme 7000 and 8000 ) - That was to get more of the CCM crowd to look at the Supremes - because old Supreme was very narrow and fit a more selcted audience. I hear the the new Vapor line is much the same as the old Supreme line - narrow. Now also realize that the One90 is a unique skate in Bauers new Supreme line, and differs from the Supreme 70 ( Which essentially is made from the Bauer 8090 last - which is wider ). Now I also hear that the One75 is going to be similar to the One90 last. So in a nutshell my believe is that the One75 will be a little wider than the Vapor line. So bottomline is to try them on at a LHS and buy. :D

I agree the Vapor fit was much better for me than the Supreme fit. Personal preference.

Same. The supreme's fit alot tighter around toes. mind you my left foot is a 1/2 size bigger then my right which really didnt help.

I currently have Vapor XXX's and I can flex the crap out of the boot when I lean forward, to the point it looks deformed... mind you I am 6'2 225. I don't know if anyone else has this problem or if it is normal, but Im hoping that the Supreme one95 will be stiffer than the XXX which Im sure it is.

While this is up...how does a Vapor XXXX fit in comparison to the current Supreme line (not the One 90) in width AND length...

Ahearn...sounds like those 30s are spent...boot materials break down over time and the boots flex more and more.

I just got them last year too, I used them all summer though, at first they were awesome, but now they deform when I lean forward :(

You must be a big guy to blow through them that fast...

You say the new Vapor line is the same fit as the old Supreme--narrow. I'm not sure that is accurate as Nike/Bauer has widened the XXXX compared to previous Vapors to accomodate more foot types. I would say the old XX and XXX were maybe closer to being in that "narrower" category.

If you go onto nikebauer.com, and click on the gear tab, skate selector, compare skates and then go into the flex category, it shows that the one90's have more flex for more powerful strides than the XXXX's. Does this mean the XXXX's are stiffer?

Also if anyone read my previous posts about my XXX's(a few posts back), I was wondering if a stiffer boot would help me with the problem of the boot flexing so much when I lean forward.

The One90's are more flexible because of the different tongue and tendon guard. However, this doesn't affect the stiffness around the ankles. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the Vapor XXXX is stiffer than the One90. I'm pretty sure that you're referring to forward flex when you're talking about your XXX's. The Vapor XXXX won't solve your "problem" because you get a lot of forward flex from the XXXX's as well. If you don't like forward flex, why don't you try taping your ankles?

I never thought of taping my ankles but I might have to give it a shot. I dont mind the forward flex, its how the boot deforms when I do it that I don't like, it becomes much wider and the skate doesn't fit right, if this is supposed to happen then I guess I don't like forward flex haha. I hope im describing the problem correctly.

If the boot deforms and then doesn't fit properly when you lean forward, the boots are most likely toast. Try taping your ankles, and if that doesn't work, get some new rockets.

I just bought a pair of One90s yesterday. I couldnt wait for them to go down in price because I wanted to break them in before my summer league (more competitive than what Im playing now). I asked to try on the One90s, One70s, and XXV...XXXX was way too much still and I had a real desire to go back to Bauer (what I grew up on, with a few tacks in the mix). First I tried on the XXVs. My foot uncomfortably reached the toe in Size 9s but there was a tonne of room above my foot to the laces. I found the toe section to be quite large for my liking (volume-wise). I couldnt really describe to the salesman why, but they just felt really weird so I opted to try on the One90s next.....and holy shit were they sweet. I usually tape my ankles or wrap my laces around my old skates but was surprised that despite the seemingly shallower ankle, I didnt feel I needed to.

I also didnt think Id spend that kind of money on skates, ever, but It was like I couldnt bother even trying another skate on. I told him to put away the others and instead Id just go for a half size down (8.5) on the one90s. Im still not reaching the toe for some reason (not like I did in the XXVs but I dont care). They were so light and I think I felt a bit spoiled since this was the first pair Ive bought since my Easton Ultralites like 4-5 yrs ago.

I skated on them later than afternoon and was really surprised I had a smooth stride after a few minutes. Every other skate Id ever had would take at least 4-5 before I got back my form. My feet hurt like hell afterwards but at least I was able to go the whole game smoothly.

I know this wasnt a comparison between the two but I just wanted to share my experiences and it seems that in this forum, if I were to start my own thread, it would become locked because there are so many on the One90.

I see two sides to this and it's driving me nuts

I bought a pair of Pro Stock Vapor XXXX 10 DA and they are too narrow the arches kill me, however my Supreme Select fit 10 R (D) me like a dream. I already listed the XXXX on eBay and plan on getting One60 LE size 10 EE just to be sure.

I just want a new pair that will fit as good as my old pair.
